Views on Bioshock and Fallout 3

Hey guys I got 50 dollars for my birthday, and I was looking at good/cheap games to buy.
At the gamestop down the street there is Fallout 3 and Bioshock both $20 but are they really worth it?

If you've ever played please give me your input, I don't want to waste my money ^_^;

Bioshock is always win, so much fun

Fall out is fun but its kinda goofy

Both are great games, but it really depends on the platform you intend to play on. If you're thinking xbox, then I'd go with Fallout, and for PC I'd push Bioshock. Fallout3 is going to be the bigger game just because it's more of a sandbox shooter, but Bioshock has a great story and some replay value (due to its multiple endings).

It also depends on if you like the Bethseda style RPG. I've bought several of Bethseda's games (Oblivion, Morrowind, and Fallout 3), and I always get lost in the game because they are so massive. If you like that style though, it's a good bet you'll like Fallout.
If you prefer linear games that have objectives and frantic gunplay, Bioshock is really hard to beat for the money. But again, if you don't like scary moments in your games at all, then Bioshock probably isn't the best option (it's not terribly scary, but there are some eerie moments and the occasional enemy out of nowhere jumps).

But the best option (applies to PCs mostly) is to find good deals online. Steam has amazing deals for PC games at times, and other sites like direct2drive.com and gogamer.com have some pretty nice deals for sales as well.

And btw, Fallout3 is 25 bucks on Steam right now, so that would be a decent investment.

The story in Bioshock is amazing, not so much in Fallout3. I think Fallout3 has more replay value though due to the random events and DLC. Bioshock is one of my favorite games of all time though, the atmosphere is awesome. I vote buy both

If you haven't, buy both. Those are a great price. Both games are extremely atmospheric and really pull you into the game. There aren't many games that can do that, especially since both of them have really intresting enviroments.

The 50's post-nuclear war theme in Fallout 3 is awesome feeling.

You will be happy with both.

Bioshock is better than FO3. Save yourself the disappointment and buy BS+FO1/2.

I personally do not like Fallout 3. I got it for a gift and played it through and didn't feel it was as great of a game as everyone makes it out to be. I actually had to force myself to play it and then was feeling, whats the point? Comparatively speaking, Morrowind was twice as good as Fallout3, if not more, in my opinion.

when it was first coming out i didnt think iw would live up the the previous system shock 2 but it almost out did it.

If you get Fallout 3, the PC version is much better because of the mod-ability.
Bioshock is fun, scary though...

I LOVE Bethseda style RPG's, after Oblivion, I was defiently in love with them.
I plan to buy it for Xbox..
And that is true.. I might just buy Fallout3 for xbox, and see if they have any good deals later on..

Good choice because if you dont have a good G-Card then Fallout wont play they have been so many complaints on Fallout not running on Windows 7 and on Vista Because of the game not picking up the graphics card and it will just Crash on you like 10 minutes in the game. I myself have had this problem many times. But it is well worth the purchase on xbox i have it still have not yet beaten it but am working on it i allready have the New Fallout Vegas Prepurchased.

Fallout 3 was an amazing choice, I played it for 4 days straight, I have tons of fun on it, I just beat the story and I plan to restart and play an evil guy. Although, I don't understand what to do after you beat the story, it won't let me do anything else.
But yes, if non of you own this game, get it, it's basically amazing and you will be addicted to it in like an hour.

You can get Bioshock for $20 and Fallout 3 for $30. So I don't see the problem.

You can't continue playing after the story unless you buy the broken steel DLC.

You should check out all the DLCs, actually. Will add a bunch more storylines to go check out on your second play through.

Agreed, the cashier probably just followed the arrow until he beat the game. The real gems are the audio diaries, they added a lot more to the story....but you didn't find half of them if you just followed the arrow. Fallout 3 has way more replay value anyway, the W.Y.K. plot twist only really works once in Bioshock.

I haven't yet forced myself to play through Bioshock. I own it because I needed another copy of Oblivion for my wife and it was a $20 deal at Wal-Mart for both Oblivion and Bioshock. I played it for a day and found it to be pretty thoroughly boring.

I'm a huge fan of Bethesda style RPGs, and while I strayed from Fallout for a long time, I'm thinking of picking up Fallout 3 (and it's DLCs) sometime here real soon and I'm really looking forward to it.
