I've Noticed that Sony and Nintendo are pushing the Hand held concept.
i mean the games pushed for the 3DS are awesome and the graphics for them are amazing, and they're on a hand held!

Sony today announced they will be releasing 70+ new titles this year for the PsP system including God of War and that amazingly awesome looking virtual pet game, i can't remember it off the top of my head.

It looks like Sony and Nintendo are taking back the hand held gaming from Apple's Itouch, Iphone, and Ipad.

and they are winning

what do you guys think about the last half of 2010 and all of 2011 for the hand held gaming community?
 
I didn't pay much attention to either conference, but I tuned into Nintendo's pretty late, so I got a good look at the 3DS and what it had to offer. It really does seem like they're targetting their core fans, which makes me question just how successful the little device will be. As the DS Lite was, arguably, the most casual game-oriented console I've seen in my lifetime, it did well selling to the more easygoing audiences.

The 3DS, which I can see having a steep price now, seems to be back at targetting the core players again. I'm not sure how great of a marketing choice it is, but regardless of that, the games themselves are making me sweat in building excitement. It was a giant nostalgia bomb dropped on everyone who was watching.

Only time will tell. But I know I'll be getting the 3DS, mark my words.
 
same here, and there are a lot of awesome games that are being released on the 3DS within the first few weeks of the release!
i mean come on, Metal Gear Solid, Ghost Recon, Splinter cell!?!
Nintendo is going from laid back casual "oh i brought my DS with me so i dont get bored on these long bus rides" to "gimme a case of Dr Pepper, some doritos and a box of wet wipes, because im sitting here all day and playing this game"
same with PsP, i havent seen any good games on it since "Infected" and since i have the PsPGO, i have play it anymore so i really hope Sony digitally converts a lot of there classic games to downloadable games via PSN so that people who get the PSPGo dont have to spend the money to buy the game again.
 
well, think about it.

the past few years, barely any good games came out for the handheld. i think it was about time that they came back to it. it is a good business to invest into handheld. they forget about all the little children who plays the handheld. mainly the ones from like 13 - 20 i would say is a godo market. you have some that just starts playing, then you have ones that have been playing for years.

us pc gamers think we have the short end of the stick for the pass few years, but no one really thought about the handheld XD glad to see its making a come back.
 
well this is the sad case for me. i still have the original ds (the fat one) & i really dont forsee giving it up anytime soon (unless nintendo does something stupid & changes cartridge sizes which i doubt they will). im gonna keep mine til i feel like upgrading (which i doubt will happen anytime soon).
 
I have a DS Phat as well, but MGS3+Starfox+OOT+RE, etc. and I'm sold :p
I already have a PSP, so yeah. GEN D-3 and all that, though. The only games I'm looking forward to are Kingdom Hearts and GoW there.
 
No offense, but when it comes to the hand held Nintendo was never losing. You could say they are upping their game this year to keep others from gaining a foot hold.

Make no mistake. Sure other products have been successful, but Nintendo OWNS the hand held market.

Uhm, the 3Ds is a completely new hand-held. It has brand new hardware, that is way more powerful than the current ds.

To play any of the 3Ds games, you'll need a 3Ds.
 
Yeah, I've had a DS Fatty since just after release, too. Skipped the half-dozen or so iterations of the DS (love the GB cartridge too much). But, the 3DS looks, wow, powerful. We'll probably keep the DS, but definetly be getting the 3DS to go with it :)

Also...the PSP? I work with schools, colleges (all levels) and I've never even seen a PSP on any campus; Nintendo handhelds are freakin' everywhere

because PSP has no good games,
maybe 3 or 4, but Nintendo comes out with everything that makes people want to buy/download n such, now since the DS has a camera and an animation program in it, of course people are gunna rock the DSi
