Hey guys, i'm relatively new to this website and I heard ya'll were pretty big and stuff and I was wondering if you could maybe provide some help

Ok so whenever i start up Counter Strike Source I can run the game fine, except whenever i try to move with the WASD Keys, i get this huge lag (around 2 secs) and it's impossible to play with. I'm on a laptop and i'm wondering if i need to go out and get a USB keyboard or something.

And it's only the keyboard that lags, because if i assign the foreward key to one of my mouse buttons there is no lag or unnesscary movement, but its extremely hard to play.

Here are my system specs on my Laptop, idk if they are good or not, the game seems to run ok though

Toshiba Satellite Pro
Microsoft Windows XP
Service Pack 3

Pentium(R) Dual-Core
T4200 @ 2.00GHz
2.00 GHz, 1.87 GB of RAM

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Shane

---EDIT---
also my graphics card is some custom one, named
Toshiba Family Service Graphics Bundle
or sumthin
it doesn't give me any hardcore facts about whats actually inside it

Can you run any other game fine? I'm thinking your graphics card might be the problem.

I really doubt that it's the keyboard. Either it works or it doesn't; There shouldn't be any delays.

Just to see if it's FPS issues, turn on net_graph 1 in console and tell us what your fps is.

The GPU could maybe just not be handling it at all and running at like 5 fps.

wat

Ok yea, kinda big change of plans

So i got Counterstrike working, i had to do something by setting the Halflife2 process to "Low" in the taskmanager after startup But heres the bad news

After a good solid 3 hours of playing i was done so i shut down the computer and went to bed. When i woke up the next morning, the entire thing was bricked, something about some huge trojan getting activated from something i downloaded, bassicly no more XP on my system

My laptop only came with Vista back up disks(strange, since it shipped with XP), so i popped those in and now i'm running Vista Business on the laptop with the same specs. I haven't loaded up counterstrike yet, but idk if it will work anymore.

Bassicly I'm asking if anyone of you run CS:S on Vista Business or Vista based software successfully

Thanks for all the help btw.

Hm. Perhaps an intensive malware/spyware/adware/virus scan?
