Graphic Card Help!!

Alright, so recently my computer stopped turning on, meaning like I press power button and it puts me in the Windows screen and as soon as it disappears, I get this blue screen telling me that some hardware has failed and it's dumping the physical memory. Then it just restarts and keeps on going until i unplug my computer.
So, I went to this store to have my computer checked and they said it's either I have a virus or its some hardware issue. A day later I received a call, they said its not a virus but it's a problem with my Graphic card. Its broken.

Now that I've told you my story here's what I need to know. I'm getting a new graphic card.

Here are my specs...

Dell XPS 630i
Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
8gb of DDR2 ram
DirectX 10
750W power supply
750GB Hard drive

I'm leaning towards the
HD 5750 1gb DDR5
Maybe the 5770 1gb DDR5 but I heard it only adds a tad more performance and its 1.5 times more expensive


I used to have the 9800GT 512mb and I was finding it not enough for BC2
I want a card that will play most games on either High or Very High but I want to keep the price under $200 CA so that's like what $180 US?

Any thoughts? Should I go with the 5750 or something else?

Well, how much are you looking to spend?
And if you pick one of those, go with the 5770. It's much better.

E/ Are you buying at a local store or online retailer?

5750 might be better (Cost wise), but for that extra 10-20 fps in the 5770, I do not know, It is up to you.
 
Cuz I've been doing some reasearch and it seems like the 5750 is around 140$ and the 5770 is like 170$ ish
 
I like the 5770 over the 5750 because it has a much higher clock rate compared to the 5750 and isn't 200-300 dollars more like the 5850 or 5870 models. It's worth paying about <$75 more in my opinion and is preferred by many budget builders.
 
Oh I forgot to mention that I will not be over clocking the Cards. And I'm worrying about the bottle neck issue. Like its when Everything is good but one part and that slows down the whole computer?
Any issues with that?

Otherwise I've decided that its either 5750 or 5770. Not other ones like GTX and stuff.

Which one has a better ratio of cost:performance is the one I'm gonna get.

And I planning to upgrade in under 2 years again. So I only need a card that can play MOST FPS on 1680x 1050 High or Medium
 
There will be no bottleneck with any of the cards that have been mentioned.
But I think you should overclock your CPU a little, though.
 
Alright, I'm starting to learn towards the 5750 because I think my parts won't give the 5770 the full potential. If I'm going to buy the 5750 instead of 5770 I will save about $50 which can buy me another game =D. But here's what I'm going to buy as of now.

Tell be if I should switch to another brand name of something,(ex. ATI, HIS etc.) I am quite unfamiliar with Powercolor.... Is it trust-able? Will it break down? How will it perform compared to the other Cards?

The 5770 would be perfect for your other parts. Why not just get that?

And try to get Sapphire or ASUS, or XFX if you don't mind the artwork. lol
Powercooler is an okay brand, but the aforementioned are better.

So should I switch the brands? I'll have to add at least $20 since the one I'm buying right now is on sale..

Oh Alright. Thanks but I need to clear up one more thing.

Just how much of a better card is the 5770 compared to the 5750?
I will change out in 2 years.
My parents are like "NONONONONO 5750 is enough for you. Your computer is already almost 2 years old."

Lol.



OH and for either cards. The brands have same price so which brand should I go with PowerColor or Diamond

If it was me.......i'd choose the 5770.

It's better, trust me.

5770 is about a tad less than a 4890........but the 5750 is like less than a 4850 if im not mistaken?

Basically.......the 5750 will be 10-20 FPS behind the 5770.....thats like the difference between 60-70FPS in bad company 2 and 40-50 FPS with the 5750....the 5770 will be smooth but the 5750 will be choppy every once in a while and not consistent.

Changing out in 2 years is also a fairly long time lol unless your GPU meets your needs. In 2 years who knows what GPU's will be out.

ATI 6 series are coming soon though btw.......they are saying end of this year beginning of next year.

Anyways, yea i would get a 5770 and overclock it.......they are good overclockers with a little added volt and will almost have the same performance as a 4890 if you overclock it enough.

From what i understand, you can get like 1000mhz core etc...from what i last read a while back with a little added volt which is really amazing.

He won't be overclocking...

And the 5770 like PewPew said, is about 10fps higher in most games. Go for that, especially since it has to last for 2 years.
 
shame.......overclocking helps boost bang for your buck so much

From what i remember, overclocking the 5770 to 1000mhz gave like a 8-10 FPS boost maybe a bit less or more depending on the game
 
I've decided to get the 5770. However, I still don't know which brand to get as they are the same price.

Its between.
Powercolor and Diamond
 
Scratch that.

The Powercolor is 159.99
The Diamond is 149.99 but only with mail-in rebate.

In your opinion which one cuz I don't want to go though all the hassel of the rebate thing
