It seems every day I get messages from 1-4 Edge Gamers Members that are trying to spread a virus by including messages such as "Free game from steam support, click here to get it!"

Too me, this is really annoying and it needs to stop. Any thoughts?

I agree with you. They have probably been hacked themselves and the hacker is just trying to "spread the wealth". Just don't click on mysterious links and you will be fine. Or you could block them so you don't even have to talk to him.

They might just have been hacked. Report it to a leader and block them.

if i do i will click it using linux in ma virtual box and then i hack them noobs and pownd then

I'd suggest to read these two threads, here and here; there really is nothing that can be done to stop it from happening, besides paying attention to the common signs of a phishing attempt.

Also, from https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?p_faqid=301 :

IMPORTANT:
Steam Support does not contact users over the Friends network - decline Friends requests from users you do not know.
Steam Support will never need your password for any reason. Ignore any password request you receive.
and
If you receive a link from another user, especially one claiming free access to Steam content, use extreme caution! All official Steam logins are directed to the steampowered.com or steamcommunity.com domains, and official pages will include an Extended Validation SSL certificate, which most up-to-date modern browsers will identify with green text or a green highlight in the address bar with "Valve Corporation [US]" near the address. If you suspect a site asking for your login information is not an official Steam site, do not enter any information on the site and disregard it.
