Sniping and the act of not really doing anything...

I know for a fact that every time I leave spawn I will die. Bebating whether to stay in spawn rather than face certain death, No it would spoil the game for me and the guy's who would kill me, hunt for me in the sewer's and get your point's HA HA

The only thing I would have a problem with is if the person takes a little dmg and spec jumps or is hiding up in the sniper house and spec jumps when someone tells him people are coming. Other than that if he is just playing defensive it's his choice, I didn't buy the game for him, so...

Yea, I've seen people who move to spec once one side caps all the flags just to avoid getting another death, which is really annoying because it deprives the other side of having their fun of hunting down the other team while the losers can't do anything. I always give a warning for this, although it's probably debatable as to if this is cheating or not.

this used to be an instant-kicking offense, now, unless changed, it's W/K/B. You cannot switch to spec to avoid a death at the end of the round. There is plenty of precedence for this, notably from slayr, but forgive me I'm too tired to find it

If He's got a suicide bind, or anything that he can press when he starts taking fatal damage to avoid losing points is cheating. That is cheating the HLX system and the player who kills him out of his points.

One of my all-time pet peeves. I "assault snipe", or go where the action is and quickscope the daylights out of everyone (or try anyway). Sitting in one spot for 2 hours and going 50-2 does nothing for me. I'd rather run around for 2 hours and go 240-75 =)

Yes, and that is your choice. Mine as well, but again it's our choice. Remember it's our job to keep the servers clean, fun, and to keep people from breaking the rules whenever possible. It is not our job to tell someone how to play if they are within the rules. No matter how much it may frustrate you.

I definitely agree with this ^

I was just saying =)

Yeah for sure. I totally agree, the only thing is where do we draw the line at rule breaking. If he is dodging deaths, that is cheating the HLX system and is therefore against the rules.

It matters not to me anymore, Im not going to be playing on donner so long as hes on, cant really kill him cuz of his jumping in and out of game to avoid death but he doesnt really help to move the objectives forward when your on his team either. So my personal choice is to not play while he is on...I actually had someone tell me today that he sits and knives people who are sniping waiting for them to drop a sniper or die so he gets it then goes back to hiding. Im personally not gonna put up with it. So whatever lol

Noooo Mr.S we needs you in the Donner! But seriously, he's just ONE player out of a team of 16. And it's not all that uncommon to see several other players who choose to camp/sit back and not advance to help the team. All that makes it that much sweeter when you do win, or prevent the other team from winning.

If he's doing that, it's considered griefing and it's a w/k/b. I have specced him a couple of times this past week or so but haven't seen him grief or leave/reenter the team/server to avoid dying. Perhaps he only does it when he doesn't see admins in spec.

Yea I was going to say this. If he ever does that in server when an admin is in, let us know right away. Even if he stops, if the admin that warned him is there the next time it happens they can kick to my understanding.

Heya,
Just want to chime in. The only rule that I see this player is breaking is the fact that he is leaving the server, rejoining to avoid being killed. We had numerous players who have been permanently banned because that is stat padding and point farming (same thing). It's a w/k/b procedure, as far as I know.

Yeah, I believe that is the rule, there is nothing against not doing much as a sniper, but point farming is against our rules.

imo let ppl play the way as they like, BUT if they r doing this so called "spec jumping" just near death thats not allowed and admins should take care of it (warn, kick...)

Your post is irrelevant to the discussion at hand.

All I have to say is keep an eye on this player and take appropriate action when needed. If no admins are on, contact either an eG or O. We're always on ventrilo. Add us on steam as well.

If you suicide at the end of a round when your team losses, that's ok right? I've had admins say it's allowed and others say it's not. Just wanted to clear this up.

i don't see why suiciding is allowed but switching to spec isn't after the round

but no argument here about the multiple ways to "stay alive"

1 suicide in 8 minutes i can be comfortable with. That would be hard to admin. Key issue is a constant effort to deny others points, and i think mainly during the game. If the game is won that is fine. Sometimes i switch classes at the end of the game and i die in the process.

And Genji, if you lose then you should not be gaining anything from your loss. Imagine the entire team going to spec after each game.

When will these "players" learn?

It's not about your points.

It's about your team capturing all of the flags!
