Hey fellas!

I am looking into building a new rig. With my video card dying I decided I may just go ahead and bite the bullet and replace the whole thing.

I am ordering through Newegg, but I was curious to see if one (or any one) of you guys would mind pricing me a system for less than $1000?

I already have a great SATA HDD, mouse, keyboard, monitor, speakers, but everything else I just want to replace.

Let her rip! Thanks for any tips. :)

Okay. I have a few questions, then I will post a build once I get back.
1. Do you need an OS/is the OS included with the $1000?
2. Do you have any preferences? (Such as AMD/Intel or ATI/NVIDIA)
3. Do you plan on overclocking?
4. What are the primary games that you play?
5. What resolution is your monitor?

1. I have Windows 7 64-bit
2. I usually run with AMD and nVidia
3. Nope
4. Fallout 3, TF2, Bad Company 2, etc
5. 1440x900 (16:10 Widescreen 19'' HANNS-G)

Thanks! :)

EDIT: I was about to purchase this card:

But I may hold off if you have a better recommendation.

Ok, I can start right now, but I have to go soon.
Learning how to drive. :D

I chose the 465 because you wanted nVidia. Otherwise I would of chose a 5770. I chose the 965BE since you won't be overclocking and it has a high stock clock than the 1055T, making it better in games (since you're not overclocking). I picked a nice reliable motherboard, with a good brand of ram. This powersupply may be expensive, but it's Gold certified, so it's 90%+ effiencent when the load is at 50%, making it very good. It also is passive cooling until it hits a certain load, making it very quiet. As you can see, you have any options you want for a case, I just chose the 922 because it's one of the most commonly recommended cases.

Hope I helped. :)

Sweeeet! Thanks guys! This gives me something to go on, definitely. :)

I picked the best parts on the market, opposite of what you wanted AMD and Nvidia, this is Intel and ATI but hope it works. This thing is a beast.

Phobus that rig is nice. If I didn't just upgrade I would follow that.

Thanks.

E/ Ooh, I'm close to 1337 posts.
18 more to go...

E2/ Also, I'm thinking about making a thread for people to post in and I build them a computer for whatever budget/purpose they post.
You guys' thoughts?

That is a really good idea.

How does the eVGA 465 compare to the HD 5770? I'm thinking about <$200 is more or less my price range.

However, if there is significant advantage for about $60 more I'm willing to go there.

I could find you a really beast rig, but since it's mostly brand new technology it would be... extremely pricey... :/

Nvidia has nothing to compare to the ATI 5000 series.

Fanboyism and false information is immature and unacceptable in this part of the forums.
Nvidia has the GTX 400 series to compare to the HD 5000 series.

And here's the pictures if you don't want to click the link.

We could get more, if you want.

I don't believe any nvidia card supports PCI-E 2.1 16X? No? Its supposedly better. I'd have to pull up info to be sure.

PCI-E 2.1 still runs in 2.0, because no motherboard has more than 2.0, so that's a null point. The whole point of 2.1 is for when PCI-E 3.0 rolls around and will be backwards compatible with 2.1.

I like the Phobus build with the Coolermaster case. You might try www.tigerdirect.com too. I like Newegg and Tigerdirect and have made purchases from both but sometimes the parts are cheaper on one site than the other. Could save you a few bucks.

Tiger is good, too, I just prefer newegg because I've heard more about it/more awesome reviews of their customer service.
