For those of you who are planning on getting the new slimmer Xbox 360, check this video & posting out: http://www.gameculture.com/2010/06/24/fail-new-slim-xbox-360-red-rings

In all honesty, I kinda figured that this would have happened. Im just surprised that these people have the $$ to go blow on something like this, ESPECIALLY when they have an older version of the 360. People need to learn that just cause Microsoft comes out w/ the slimmer version doesnt mean that this "RROD" or "RBOD" wont happen.

Before seeing that, the Slim looking pretty good to me. I mean, why would Microsoft release another console with a disastrous problem like the Red Ring of Death? Are they stupid? Of course, Microsoft proves again, that they do not care about quality when it comes to game consoles. Disappointing.

Makes me glad I bought my new Elite recently, because otherwise, I would've gotten this.

Awesome how this turned into a console bashing thread. It amazes me how sometimes here at Edgegamers people think just because this is a computer gaming site they have the right to bash consoles. Anything could have gone wrong. Just by looking at the video looks like the console had no room at all to vent, plus look how much crap was plugged into the outlet. Hey guess what my friends washer and dryer broke so should we bash Whirlpool because of that? Nope because things break. Another friend bought a $2,000 TV and guess what right of the box it didn't work and was made by Sony.

Everyone has a right to bash whatever they don't like within reasonable boundaries at any time without provocation. The fact that this is about a console having a failure just sparked all of those with a voice so speak it.

I play my PS3 a lot more than I do my rig, and I would have any Xbox if they wouldn't fail all the time.

I've never had a rig just up a fail on me. And even if a rig fails, we as PC gamers can fix them easily, not have to send it off to a company for an undetermined amount of time.

Well it's the fact that the Xbox continues to break for a large amount of people, not just a handful, and it's the same defect that causes them to fail.

Oh, Xbox so much fun and yet the cause of so much pain. I'm on my 3rd one right now...though I've only bought one.

microsoft - "LOL we haz integrated wifi on xbox nao, lol we made people pay for things they no need lolol, we pull steve jobs lolzorz"

Sony - "ok so we got bluetooth, wifi, blueray, free connection to our network, and a working system. Anything missing? oh! how about....OH i know, lets make games that are for 3D, genius *brofist*"

sorry if that looked like a bash, but thats probably how it works

Guess I failed to notice that. Don't debate about consoles, please! It gets repetitive, useless, and boring really fast.

Well to be honest, I simply wanted to inform people about this issue. I really didnt want it to become a bash fest. Knowing Microsoft's history with the Xbox 360, people will continue to bash the company as well as the system until either the company finally gets their act together (which i doubt will happen) or they come out w/ their next generation console (which i dont forsee that happening for the next 2-3 years). Microsoft as we have seen just cares bout the $$ & not bout the quality of their product. I recently got a PS3 used from a local guy round here (its the fat older school version & im very pleased with it). I have a few friends who say that their 360 hasnt received the rrod yet. However, due to the continual reports of other people getting them still to this day, not to mention that ive heard 1 person end up getting up to 6 rrod that Microsoft has sent this guy (poor guy btw), I refuse to spend $$ on 1 of their consoles. Im mostly waiting for prices to go down on ps3 games so i can get more.

The red ring ofdeath happens because of a fatal flaw.. Cheap thermal grease, it's an easy fix use better thermal grease. That's the problem though i don't remember where to put it, the cpu maybe?
(yes even consoles are computers, but less customizable than a pc)

This is why is skipped a 360 and got myself a PS3. Plus for the new Kinect you have to have 2 or 3 extra usb slots hence them putting the extras on the back of the system. For Move you dont need anything extra outside of the PS Eye and the Move controller. The 360 would be a good system if Microsoft actually put quality into it, but the way they keep pulling stuff like the release of this new slim 360 they are seemingly in for the money and nothing else. Me personally, Quailty>Quantity AKA Sony>Microsoft

Yeah, it was informative, and kind of helpful, so I guess you succeeded.

But like you said, RROD just means "There is a problem with your Xbox 360!" it doesn't tell you anything.
