Hey guys,
About 2 weeks ago, I bought the Razer Carcharias headset for only 20 $ because of a sale. It's a very good quality headset with amazing sound, the only problem is, I can't get the microphone to capture a decent volume of sound and the only way I can be heard in-game or in Ventrilo is by almost screaming with the mic less than 1 inch to my mouth. I don't know if you guys know any programs to boost the microphone gain or anything, but I really need help. Thanks.

Btw, I use Windows Vista and my headset is plugged on a Creative SB X-Fi soundcard.

Yeah, I've did all that, I've turned up in the Windows one and in the Creative one.

I own this exact same headset. I haven't had this problem really. I've never had to scream anyways. Mine has been on the softer side. When I first got it. I did update my sound card, I doubt that helped though. It's a really clear and clean mic.

Few things if you haven't tried already.
-With Vent you HAVE to turn up your outbound. I believe mine is at 6 or 7. I've had mine all the way up to 10 before which isn't bad. Unless you do end up screaming. 6 or 7 has been my sweet spot.
-With the source games I've just had to turn the transmit volume and mic boost on and I don't have a problem at all. Some complain that I am on the softer side but they can usually hear me.
-BFBC2 I've never had luck with getting my mic to work properly. I'm not sure why. I did use a desk mic on that game at one point and even that wasn't working right.
-CoD4/WaW never have been able to get my mic to work very well simply because their voice system is garbage lol

You could also try going into I think Control panel<Sound<Microphone<Setup? or how ever you get there and set up your microphone. I know 2 other people who use these, and it's basically a clone of my headset. Just have to turn some things up :)

I'm hoping you bought the headset new and not used. And wasn't from a shady place. Since I'm sure if you were to send it to Razer they would fix it for you. I've had nothing but good luck with Razer :D

No, I bought the headset new, it's just that my older brother owns a shop with computer stuff and he did me a good price. I found your outbound thing in Ventrilo, I turned it up and I think it's better now. The only problem remains in-game voice with Source game, because when I test it under the Voice tag in Option, I can't hear myself properly. But thanks for your tips, theses definately helped me !
