Applying for my first job

I already know to look nice, be professional, speak proper english, be respectful but don't kiss butt, and be understanding if I don't get excepted; but there is something I'd like to ask.

I was planning on getting a 7 hour working day sunday-thursday starting at 3:45pm and ending at 10:45 so I can fit school in somewhere. Is this unreasonable?

I'm still only about %70 on getting a part time during the school year. Is there any temp (summer) jobs out there a 17 year old can mold around the days I mentioned above?

Employers want to know what time you're available to work. It's best to be honest with them in the interview so that you avoid unpleasant surprises later. If the conditions are unacceptable to them, try another job, there are a lot of jobs out there for HS students.

Lifeguarding is a good summer job that is usually pretty flexible with the hours.

At that age, and at most jobs you're applying to. The primary quality employers are looking for isn't intelligence, it isn't looking neat. It's that you're going to do whatever the hell they tell you to do.

My advice - go to your interview looking nice, be honest about what hours you can work. Don't kiss ass too much because that'll be annoying to them. But don't bother discussing any of your own opinions, and don't seem confident enough that your manager might think you're confident enough to defy them.

Well, from my experience, people are so worried about what you look like that they don't care how nice, smart and hard working you are. They would rather give the job to a 16 year old preppy kid that hardly knows what a brain does.

Accepted* Be sure not to spell things wrong on your application. The number 1 thing that employers first look for is that the application is filled out correctly.
