Help with my new rig

Im building a new custom rig and I still am debating a few things :facewall: ...maybe someone can help me.

First, I dont know whether or not to go with Intel Core i7 or AMD Phenom II X4. AMD is nice because the black editions allow overclock but the new 875K from Intel offers this as well.

Second, I dont know whether or not to get DDR2 or DDR3 chipset.

Third, Im looking for a good motherboard that offers good overclocking support, any suggestions?

Well what all will you be doing?
Just gaming? If so, then stick with the Phenom II, there is about a 4 fps MAX difference between an i7 and a Phenom II in gaming.
And any processor, Black Edition or Extreme Edition or not, allow overclocking.
Probably DDR3. I haven't looked into it much, but I'm sure there isn't a significant increase from DDR2 -> DDR3, but it's nice to have for future builds.
Any GIGABYTE board for either Intel or AMD.
