New PC

I am looking at getting a new PC this Christmas.
I was looking at getting a AMD Athlon II X2 250 CPU

But I dont really know computers much.

Right now I have a AMD Phenmom Quad Core.
Its just getting old.

What would you guys recommend?

You wrote it the other way around

EDIT: If you want a good CPU X4, and dont wanna pay the price, get this, (http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=50676&vpn=HDZ555WFGMBOX&manufacture=AMD) and then find a core unlocker board, now a-days, most X2s are X4s, but with locked cores.

And I think he did mean he has a Phenom Quad, and wants an Athlon II 250.
And what motherboard do you have?

I actually had a Phenom Quad core, and then upgraded, yes, upgraded, to my current processor.

I think you're misunderstanding.
I upgraded from a Phenom I quad, and since the OP didn't put a II at the end of Phenom, I assume he also has a Phenom I quad core.

E/ And the 1055T at stock is not better than a 965BE.

But OverClocked it is better? I have a tut that will allow it to run at 4GHZ STABBLE for about 10 hours straight in OCCZ.

They are the exact same clock-for-clock. Unless the program uses more than four cores, they would perform equally at the same clock speeds.

Both AMD and Intel are equally reliable.
While yes, Intel is a little better than AMD in perfomance, minus the i5 750 (and MicroCenters, which I don't live anywhere near one >.<), AMD kicks the crap out of Intel for priceerformance.

Yes, you could.
You could buy an Athlon II x4 620 or 630 for $99. Granted, you'd have to save up a bit more seeing as the AII 250 is ~$70, but you'd get a lot more performance.

It's not possible to build a gaming computer for <$500. Save up a little more.
