Why you shouldn't have bought a cookie-cutter dell

Dell is a bad company in the first place. i always build my own cheaper and better :)

Dell has been great for my family. My wife and I between the two of us have had 5 Dell computers, all state of the art. We have had one hard drive fail in 11 years and my 5 year old Dell XPS still runs most games with acceptable frame rates. Dell is up and down like everyone else.

We have said it over and over in the forums. If you have experience with faulty equipment or great equipment, and want to share with other members fine, but please do not make general statements like Dell sucks, etc.
 
i did not mean for this to turn into a "this company sucks' thing,

I just thought this story was funny.

I have the same pc thats on there that looks exactly like mine! But i didnt buy it, my uncle got it free from work and he passed it onto me since had a rubbish pc. This can just about play MW2 and TF2 on lowest settings.

But mine seems to be fine... if slow and a little annoying at times. Does it specify which make and model?
 
Those are the Dell Optiplex models, which were sold to businesses, schools, etc. They're not the standard Dimension or XPS series models that most people would have at home, unless they got it second-hand (most likely).

I have an XPS M1530 laptop, just about fully loaded, and I love it.

Dell inspiron 545 here. Best thing i ever bought.
 
dells are horrible XD, also my high school si one of those "faulty dell" things computer looks exactly like that and many of them had to be worked on many had motherboard problems as stated
 
Dells are horrible for anything but searching the web and emails. Unless you upgrade the graphics card, along with the motherboard, ram, powersupply, and the case, then a Dell is good. But at that point, it's no longer a dell.
 
over 11 million is pretty bad. thats a dam huge stuff up. over priced and dodgy, dont think im ever going to own one
 
I liked them WAY back when they were still smallish and built PC using off the shelf parts as opposed to proprietor parts that Compaq and HP used to use.
It was more like build your own PC without building it and you could upgrade parts unlike the others.

Then they got into their own special cases etc. and diy upgrading became a pain again. Didn't know about the reliability problems, but I did always laugh at them like I did HP etc. when they always advertised a "gaming PC" which always had a crap vid card on the base model. Basically a rip as once the customer gets it he finds the only games he could play are flash ones, then have fun finding a half size (due to the small case footprint) powerful vid card (yes I had to help some friends outs). FAIL. :P
 
Dells are bad. Thats why when I went to buy my laptop, i completely skipped by all the HP's, Dells, and Acers. I went straight for the lovely ASUS.
 
I've been very satisfied with Dell's Latitude D800 series and the newer E5500 series Latitudes. These computers are fairly priced even after being configured to be pretty stout, plus I love their servers and their warranty support for the business class equipment. Anything else on the consumer level I would avoid after having to deal with them for so long.
