The point of it was to entertain others by showing them a fantastic racing and luxury vehicle defy the laws of speed and beat F1 racing cars by breaking the record for the fastest car: which is now at 253 mph or 407 km/h. Good enough for you Mr. Troll who should only ppost when he has something with meaning to say?
 
That's from 2007; I hate to rain on your parade but there are two commercial cars that are faster out there.

1 - Barabus TKR

Few people know this, but this is now the fastest car ever made, having dethroned the Bugatti beast. The name is not to be confused with the German tuner Brabus, as she's built by the British company Barabus Sportscars Ltd and will be produced in Italy. She has 1005 horsepower, it can do 0 to 60 mph (0-100 km/h) in...unbelievably...1.67 seconds (manufacturer's results). And, surprisingly, this power doesn't come from a huge engine, but rather from a "small" 6.0 liter V8 twin-turbocharged with dual intercoolers.

This declared speed is impressive and some people think that such a figure is not even possible: 270 mph (435km/h), nearly 20 more than the Veyron.

So, this top is a picture of today's most outstanding performances in the field of car engineering, but no one knows when the next "road-runner" will be made and how fast it will travel without taking off.

Also, as a note, there are far fast cars that are not commercial. Look up jet-engine powered cars.

While i agree that this is a awesome video; please do your research before giving out bad info.
 
Yea, this is pretty old, im sure everybody knows it by now.

But to carry on the thread and not be mean, its a great car, im jealous! :(
 
To be honest, I freaking HATE the Veyron. It's overrated, looks terrible, it's only fast in a straight line, and is overpowered, which means that you'll get less than one mile to the gallon.

Any day I'd much rather have The new GT-R, the LFA, a porsche, an old RX7, ect.

I could create a wall of text of cars I'd rather have and why I'd want them more.

Sure it looks cool. But is it worth 140 or 150 bucks for new tires?

If you love the sport like I do, hell yeah.

Besides, as stated in the Veyron vid, the tires would've worn out in 12 minutes or something like that with how fast it was going in a straight line.

Hate to burst anyones bubble but the SSC Ultimate Aero is faster. Who wants a car that expensive if it can't go around corners? Yeah yeah, it goes around the Top Gear track at 1:18, but the Caterham R500 is faster around that track, costs a heck of a lot less and is more fun to drive.

Honestly, the Veyron has been overhyped for a long time. Personally, I prefer the Koenigsegg CCXr. Most beautiful car in the world (besides my own), in my opinon.

I'm pretty sure performance tyres for the Veyron are closer to 300-500 a pop, if not more, meaning you'd spend around 1200-2000 on tyres alone.


And yes, the Veyron was a bit of a dissapointment. Not only was it quickly beat in terms of top speed, Volkswagen is selling at such a loss leader for the car (it costs $5M USD, but sells for around $1M USD) that they just made them for bragging. However, I would love to have one, anyone got one laying around in the garage somewhere being unused? Maybe we have one in the eGO garage.

I would rather have a bugatti than any other car ;)

BTW, the record was just changed.. its still bugatti veyron, but it is at 431 km/h (equals 262 miles pr. hour) ..
