Weird Counter Strike source Lag

So, I played CSS one day, and when I got on eGO servers I started getting really bad lag, like my ping was >300. I looked over and my ventrillo ping was over 1100. I did a ping test during when CSS was up and I got an F rating, with over 19% packet loss and over 1000 stutter.

I changed literally NOTHING with my computer to bring this on. All other source games run fine. I'm redownloading right now, but i don't think that'll work. Please help me.

I tried rebooting my computer, and it worked the first time I launched the game, but the second run produced the same results.

EDIT: re downloaded the game from scratch, still doesn't work.

I've noticed since the update when I open CSS and join a server (say Highschool in this case), I have such massive horrid lag like 250 latency but it feels like 1000 when I usually have around 50s

What I noticed was that my Find Servers>Internet tab was looking for games. As soon as I hit Stop Refresh, all the lag went away.

I'm on a wired connection to the gigabyte LAN port of my Linksys e3000 with a 25up/25down Verizon FiOS connection so I knew it wasn't my network connection.

I had the same problem.
What I did that caused it was I added a router in my room since I recently got a laptop to play around with. So instead of being plugged into my wall which goes straight to my switch for my house I was going through a router then the switch. So i eliminated the router I added and plugged it into my wall like normal. It fixed the problem.

I noticed that I only got the lag when I asked the game to look for the servers. But if I joined from steam or xfire no lag period.
