soo im bridging my internet from my laptop to my pc i was wondering why when i have internet on my laptop it doesnt show on my pc right away i have to wait like 10 minutes or turn of my computer and hope it works, what am i doing wrong

You're trying to use a laptop as a modem/router. Maybe you need certain software, which you Google, or maybe you need to just use a modem or router for your desktop.

Excuse me?
I'm sure if you got some software that bridged your internet for you instead of having to wait for a while and hope it works, it would work.
When asking for help, don't be so rude.

phobus you dont understand what he is doing. and he wasnt being rude to you he just want's to know why it isnt connecting and wants to do it the proper way instead of loading up with 3rd party bloat-ware to do the same thing.

@klepto
it's taking a long time because with a normal router setup the router would assign a ip to the computer via dhcp but in your case the computer is not getting a local IP and is eventually falling back to a default one.

they easiest way around this would be to assign a static local IP to the computer your trying to attach to the bridge.

Go to your network connections (Not sure what version of windows you have) but eventually you need to get to your connection list (Wired or wireless, in your case wired). Right click on which ever wired port (Local Area Connection) your using and open up the properties. Click on the IPv4 and view the properties of that and assign the router an IP address. Since your not using a subnetting scheme, leave it as 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway is your router's IP address (in this case though, I believe it would be the IP of your laptop)

tnx passerby and how would i do that?

i couldn't tell you for sure now since i don't know how the laptop connects but if you were doaubl nat'ing you would use the laptop local ip and make one up in the same range for the desktop if it's a 1 nat setup use the router IP and a make a ip up in the same range for the desktop

and in most setup's the subnet mask should always be 255.255.255.0

but i dont know for sure since i dont know your setup if you cant get it going just list everything in the setup and what it connects too and i will try to help farther
