This. Read my QQ thread for details, but when you hit "craft" Valve rolls a gagillion sided die on their server to see if you get a golden wrench. I have some words about that, but I'm confining them to my QQ thread.

There's rumors that this is just for numbered wrenches, and that you might be able to get a gold wrench through other means as well... we'll have to see.
