Hey all, well me and sheeebbzzz did a complete case clean out yesterday and i purchased 6 of the Coolermaster R4 90cfm's to replace the rest of my case fans to see what kind of temps inside the case might change. I also needed to remove my HSF to clean it out, then reseat. I do believe i have a bad seat - used the pea size method as i have before on some occasions, but normally use the line.

Here's my problem, with everything exactly the same , all settings and hardware besides my case fans all being 90cfm or so they claim, his cpu at 4ghz loads to 65c while mine gets upto 75 with ht off. I used to be able to hover around 75 with HT on, and about 78f ambient temp.

One of the CM R4 fans was used as the rear exhaust and i must say i could hardly feel the air moving out compared to the scythe 110cfms which you could feel blowing about 3-4 feet away.

Going by the model number, these are the 90cfm and and the package says so itself , picked up a bunch since they were on sale for 6 bucks a piece. I also thought the red would be a nice change from the normal blue im used to.

Also got a OCZ XTC2 RAM cooler which i cannot imagine how this thing fits without breaking something, thats getting returned.

I have done tons of seats in the past and never had a bad one like this, same size drop, got the cooler on nice n even, not too much paste, not too little. I just had to say something as i take much more time with this kinda thing and spent nearly 4 hours doing the whole bit yesterday and to get these kinda temps really dissapointed me.

Does anybody have a specific TIM application method for MX-3 on an i7 ? Suggestions, whats worked best for you all ? When i get home im going straight for the line method as used normally. Now im :( since i wont be at my current sig OC until i get this resolved. Im sure its just a bad seat, maybe i just worry too much. Thanks all , every opinion is welcome.

I have done the spread method as well, found it to work great. Otherwise i have been on the line method and has always given me constant, good seats. This is the first time i have had a bad seat which is why i am concerned.

Im gonna leave all my case fans for the time being which are R4's as it was a true pain, literally doing the job . Really, a 10c difference in core temp's MUST mean its a HSF seating problem? what do you guys/girls think?

Tried my line method again , lowered idle by maybe 2c but the load temps are still the same. And i know for one thing the R4's push more air than the previous case fans. 2 of which were the factory Coolermaster , 2 were some cheap blue led Apevia 57cfm fans, a noctua for the rear exhaust and i left my 140mm bottom intake.

Gonna swap the fan layout back to the way it was and see if that helps, heard the R4's work best without anything restricting the airflow and i could see how the case's mesh and plastic covers could do this.

Anybody else got ideas?

Hmmm.. after some thought, i'm thinking it may be the case temperature as his GPU now only runs a few degrees warmer than mine after cleaning out his case, though i did a complete cleaning and heatsink reseat to my GPU and he didnt. Im beginning to think these R4 case fans may be the problem... Eh, nobody seems to care.

I care.
I just don't know how to help.
You could try reseating using the spread method I guess.
