Problem and need help.

Ok for the past 2 days my game has been really freaking out on me, and what I mean by freaking out on me I mean it freezes completely and sometimes my ping seems to spike, and not a huge amount either just like to 200 (my ping is usually in the 30-40 mark) and on the net graph that I have spikes to 1500 and higher and my fps drop while the rest usually remains the same. So I am not sure if its the update and them still messing with stuff or perhaps the steam cloud which tries to catch up that is causing this and I would like to know if anyone is having these problems. The lag that freezes my game lasts for like 1 min where i cannot move or anything and at times the screen goes black for 1 sec and back and freezes again. I hope valve fixes this and here is a ss of the spike on the net graph.

Wow, I've been having the exact same problem. I was getting ready to get a new router. I don't have a fix, but I'm just glad I'm not the only one experiencing this.
 
im having this too, but my ping remains at 100-120 (normal)
it freezes and sometimes disconnect, i was wondering if my vid card broke,i was so worried. This happens to me whenver i play tf2. :(
 
It could be a couple of things really. It could be your computers NIC, your router, your modem, or your ISP.

If you're using a router, try directly connecting to your modem and see if you still have the issue.
 
No router and not sure if it could be the modem or ISP or NIC, how can I find out? As far as my ISP goes its time warner cable and its high speed cable, but as for the other 2 im not sure how to check and see if its that.

yeh and I get about 15 mbps that im aware of. I went to timewarner cable to get a speed test and I got 15046 kbps download and 486 kbps upload if it helps.

I have this problem at least once an hour. But instead of freezing i get disconnected. But I AM pretty sure its my router and not the game because it happens when playing online with my playstation 3 and when surfing the net. I hate my connection :(
 
I have a similar problem as well... but my ping generally stays the smae and i just dort of freeze and then tele-lag around a bit. only lasts for a minute or two but i really hope it doesnt happen during my league match tonight :\
 
Heh, I have similar problems, where my FPS will completely randomly just drop to almost nothing for a minute or so then go back up :(
 
I have been getting strange lag spikes on 2Fort since the update as well.
 
Servers seem to act like a man in labor.(its really that bad) Value needs to fix the engis gear so it doesnt lag teh server so much.
 
Seems no matter what I do this just gets worse its now happening every 5 minutes, so I decided to uninstall steam and TF2 altogether and I am reinstalling it atm. I will let you guys know if it fixes the problem or not.
 
I've noticed a huge lag spike on the initial connection. Servers where I get a 20-30 ping, I'll have well over 300 for the first 45 seconds or so. Seeing this on multiple servers, so wondering if it was something to do with an update.

That describes me perfectly. Just starting TF2 and joining a server, I can't seem to hold a stable connection for about a minute or two. I'd usually suck it up and deal with it, but in the process I've been losing my connection to Steam and I can't access items in my backpack unless I go all the way out and restart Steam.

I'm glad to see I'm not alone though. We can all suffer together.
 
Well it seems me completely removing steam from my comp and then reinstalling it fixed it. I played for like 2 hrs straight with no problems. I will be online tomorrow and see if the problem is completely gone or if its back. *crosses fingers* Here's hoping its fixed.

What, did the Engineer hobble the update together with duct tape?
