Possible Video Issue - Grey Square in bottom right of screen

Hey Guys.....

Today I cannot play DoD because when I login and scroll over the 'join server' button on the menu, my screen goes black except for a grey square in bottom right that takes up about 1/4 of the screen. I still hear sounds.

Running

Vista
3GB Ram DDRII
2.4 Quad Core
MSI Motherboard


I have updated all drivers, and such, with no luck :-(

Please help me if you have encountered this problem or have any suggestions...I miss DoD! Going through withdrawl! :-)

You may want to post your video card as well. One thing I am confeused about is wether this happens when you have loged into steam and are trying to join a server - or if this happens when you are running DOD and then try to join a server from in game.

My video card is Geforce nVidia 8800 GTX

This happens when I first login in to DoD from Steam (or desktop icon) and the splash screen shows up. When I rollover the menu it
it turns into that screen with the grey square
 
sounds weird, I have vista and the 8800gts, they take the same drivers and mine work so I am wondering if you delete your local content and then reinstall dod if that would help. I dont nromally reccomend that but it sounds like it might hep this situation.

Unless someone else has an idea.
 
Tried that (twice today) no luck yet. I have not had any luck tracking down this particular symptom in Google either. I was hoping maybe someone else has seen this.

It is a weird thing.....and I am almost totally convinced that it has something to do with the video card. It's weird how the menu rollover on the login screen triggers the black screen with the gray box. I appreciate the quick attention. Maybe someone else will recognize this nuttiness. I wanna play DoD again! :-)

Team Fortress 2 works for me no problem still.
 
well, cant you in the mean time search for servers in steam and then join from outside the game. Also, if you could post a screenshot that might help.
 
Problem Solved!

I had to get rid of some lingering driver files that wouldnt delete. Here is the post that sent me in the right direction for people in the future who may encounter this:

I think that link is broken, it sends me to the right site but only goes to a menu of topics. Also, i so could have helpsed solve this problem if you mentioned you had problems deleting drivers. I was going off the assumption that you were a trustworthy fellow when you said:

Glad everything is fine now, and i hope to kill i mean see you arround the server.
