Alright so my buddy and I want to play Left for Dead 2 on an ad hoc network. He doesn't have Internet at all, and all wifis are encrypted. When we try to start a co op campaign, you need to have a connection to steam (we have legitamite copies, and are able to play offline from steam).

If we try to play single player, it shows the game he is on the Steam Game lobbie that's scrolling. It's unjoinable, but is there any command maybe to open it up? Sv_lan doesn't work or even typing his ip adress straight connecting to his ip address. Is this steams way of stopping pirates ability?

On the host, try "sv_lan 1" "sv_allow_lobby_connect_only 1" and on the client "connect 000.000.000" change the zeros to reflect the host's lan ip. Should make sure you both are in offline mode of steam. If its not working, I'd check to see if you have a firewall that isn't letting the traffic through on either system.

Tried the LAN and connecting directly to his IP address (read 2nd paragraph). Lobby connect only would mean no one can join once the game has started correct? If so, there is no lobby to join from. Ill try turning off the firewalls next.
