Hey guys, I wanted to buy a gaming laptop this summer and I wanted something portable, so up to now the best thing I found for me was the Alienware M11x since it got a smallscreen and stuff. I don't care if it doesn't have an optical drive, I download games on Steam and download music online :O But the thing is, I don't know how to configurate it and I wanted to keep it below $1500. Here's the page if someones wants to costumize it. I'm from Canada. My main question was if it was worth going with i5 or i7 and how much RAM I would need. Thanks !

i7 is worth it, 4gb of ram for gaming
my honest opinion I would NEVER EVER get a laptop for gaming ever again. I will get a laptop, but it will be a work laptop. But since you asked the m11x premium would be your best bet. this is also a very very nice laptop. Just you dont have a long battery life.

I don't think I have to tell you this but don't go with alienware. I wouldn't suggest a gaming laptop. I got a computer from this company they had some laptops but the one in you're price range is the I/O. http://www.falcon-nw.com/laptops/compare-laptops. It doesn't have an i7 but its a decent laptop for the price
But like when I say gaming, I mean more like TF2 and HL2 engine games, nothing very requesting like Crysis or stuff, I just want to play so games on the go while being able to do my work and stuff. But why wouldn't you recommend Alienware ?

Hey Korgot, you really need to consider ASUS notebooks. Best value hands down, great support and great laptops. You can get a good one for about $900. You can spend up to $1500 which is great. I believe the M11x has 72 sp's and is $900 at best buy. I lent my ASUS notebook to a friend an still have not got it back, might just sell em it and go for the M11x . I love that machine.

ASUS used to make several 15-16 inch ROG notebooks but have not been seeing them around lately... Take those model numbers and shop around online, see what catches your eye. Anyway you go, there is room in your budget for an SSD which will do wonders for your notebook. As far as gaming probably not much but system performance will skyrocket with an Intel 80gb SSD.

My brother got alienware computer slowed down horribly in the 1st year overheats in 5 minutes and like emish said way overpriced

Yes, they are expensive, but I wouldn't say overpriced. You have no idea how much research and development goes into these laptops. The price that you pay is for the time that they spent custom designing parts and ensuring that they are properly cooled. When you try to pack that much gaming power into such a tiny space, heat is your biggest enemy.
Anyways, if you're looking for a hardcore gaming system in a small case, then the M11x is the way to go. I've read countless reviews stating that the M11x is a fantastic gaming laptop especially for it's small size.
If your price range is below $1500 then just select the M11x Premium and add it to the cart. It already comes with everything you will need to be gaming well into the future with no slow downs, and for $1200 you can't beat the price.

I made the mistake of buying a gaming laptop, 2100$ for lameness lol. I mean it's great, can play CS:S at max settings but its pretty much the only game i can do so. Tried playing Oblivion on this and wow had to turn everything down. Wish they were upgradeable
