>played bc2
>105c then CRASH!
>used the fan speed controls worked for about 3 weeks.

>found 9000 errors

So everything else is fine this is great news. Asus never called me back so i'll get a hold of them in the morning. And cash in my warranty. maybe even get an upgrade "prays"

Yeesh.
You should have listened to me and gotten MSI Afterburner, you could set up your own fan profile. ASUS Smartdoctor has a lot of issues.
Good luck with the RMA.

ASUS is usually pretty good about RMA's. They just like to take their sweet time. Be prepared to wait about 4+ weeks.

Good luck!

Yeah, had to send my motherboard in to Asus 4x each is about 2 weeks.
Go ATI and stay away form heat problems :P

heat really isn't that big of a problem with the 470.

May I remind you of the 4890/4870/4850? Major space heaters.

Wow really?
When I compared them, you said "Oh don't compare them." But you can do it?
:Iamdisappoint:

470 runs hot and this has nothing to do with asus smart doctor the card overheated b4 the use of smartdoctor remember i installed smartdoctor and it showed me it was 105c and thats the limit/fry of these cards. I believe the memory is damage its the only thing that explains why sometimes i can play for days no problems and then i get rolling power cycles on my videocard telling me that nvdklmm driver has crashed and recovered. (this crashes dx11 games) and freezes dx9 games but, the dx9 games don't crash they just freeze drop framerate and recover. Its really annoying but, doesn't happen all the time so in the meantime i wait till i can call em got a 5 year warranty on the thing. Maybe they'll be awesome like pny and say well since your such a valued customer heres a 480

That's a fanboyish statement. I have never used anything but nvidia cards, and have never had heat problems. My cases airflow also sucks. I use the stock coolers, don't replace TIM, or even clean the dust out. Oh, and I do pretty heavy overclocking, including voltage increases. And I fold 24/7. I can't speak for ATI cards as I've never used one, but I can say that nvidia cards do not suffer from heat problems as a rule.

Mhm.
My 470 (I think something is wrong with yours, Nuke, if it's not obvious lol) gets to a max of 72C, but that's only because I have a fan profile on. I wear headphones, so loud fans don't bother me MOST OF THE TIME, but when I'm watching a movie with the girlfriend, I want an extremely quiet system overall.
Which is why, if you're like my like elegant, minimalistic cases that are ultra quiet, get the NZXT Whisper. I'm picking one up for my next build for sure.

Neither does ATI. Ive always used them and never had one issue.

Ya I kinda did fan boy a bit haha. No doubt nvidia puts some good single gpus out, but I know their latest generation cards produce quite a bit of heat even for idle.

Oh, someone said something about the 4xxx series of ATI cards having problems, well mine has no shroud on it and the highest it gets is about 53c which doesn't seem much, right?

I never indicated that ATI did, all I said is that Nvidia didn't. The only reason I only get nvidia cards is because I'm a folder, and frankly, ATI cards suck at folding. This is not entirely ATI's fault, but they are partially to blame. Hopefully when GPU3 comes out for ATI cards they will perform more respectably, but until then I won't buy one. Not because of fanboyishness, simply because of their performance in what I use my cards for.

My brothers 4870 idles at 67c, the room temperature is around 70f and ambient is around 34c (without the card, with it's about 45).

Meanwhile, my friend just picked up a 470 a couple of weeks ago and it idles lower than my 275 which is about 42c. So, don't believe all the ATI fanboy hype. They bash the GTX 480s fan noise, when the 5870 is MUCH louder.

(GPU3 is out....kinda)

we really need a GPU3.5 to take advantage of ATI stream.

EDIT: what team you on? What is your folding name? EOC page? I want to see how much i am pwning.

Mine idles at 46 in a room that's about 85-90 (got to 95 during the heatwave D:)
and I don't go to ati fans for benchmarks so ya. I member watching someone try to cook an egg on a fermi card, haha. Didn't work TOO well, but that was at fermi launch. No doubt kinks have been worked out.

I know, I am currently running GPU3. I said when GPU3 comes out for ATI lol.

I have had some tech problems lately and was out of town for a bit, but looks like everything is running good now. I'm also gonna be getting some new hardware soon that'll probably about double my PPD.

Here's my EOC page

OCN is catching up with you eVGA guys we already took TSC, and we are only like 47mil behind bittech

You kids and your SR2's and your quad eVGA 480s and your dual Hex-cores.
