Benazir Bhutto

For those of you who dont know she was the former prime minister of Pakistan. Unfortunately she was assassinated yesterday by some extremists. Now i bet your wondering what this has to do with you well thats kinda why i made this thread...do you think this will affect you? I have a sneaking suspicion that were (U.S) gonna be sending more troops into Pakistan to keep it under control if this does happen i will not support it one bit we have enough people over there dying we dont need more but thats my opinion and i know my opinion...im looking for yours

yeah i saw that manbear and i was pretty shocked, but not completely unexpected, "they" have been trying for sometime. who "they" are i'm not sure, the regime? Al-Qeada? some idiot with a gun and some explosives? i dunno, sad day all around.

I've been following this closely. So far there have been three "official" versions of what happened - that don't even stand up when one looks at the footage.

1) She was blown up
2) She was shot and the shooter blew himself up.
3) She died when the blast caused her to hit her head on the sunroof.

The interesting part is that the "authorities" did not perform an autopsy, but quickly buried her....plus the film footage clearly shows a shooter.

The reason for #3 is that the "authorities" did not want to create a martyr. It's a case of the "Emperor has no clothes" - , i.e. "don't believe what you see, believe what I tell you".

Latest news is that her official police protection detail withdrew just before the shooting and only left her with her personal bodyguards.

Good old corruption, it's like a cancer, everywhere.

How the assassination will affect the world? Very little...however it may just cause a revolution in Pakistan. It depends on the level of outrage. The government controls the army, but people have overcome armies before and staged an impromptu coup before; or at least caused the government to back down.

The next little while should be interesting.

Sad state of affairs. being Indian i know whats happenin wit our neighbours...Pakistan is heading the afghan way.Exterimist will soon take over their country if nothing is done.Imagine Taliban with NUKEs .
No country can progress without democracy,its sad that only a few in pakistan realise that.
Dictaitorship only adds to the confusion.

As for the U.S sending troops over there im confused on that, i personally feel they are capable of handling thngs as they are led by a Army General.

Lets not forget it was Bhutto who came to the aid of Osama in the mid 90's when he was in Sudan.
Its an irony that the monster she helped turned on her.
A lesson learnt i guess.Evil cant be trusted.Osama showed all the qualities of a DOG other than LOYALTY.

I know one thing for sure. The United States will not let an extremist regime control nuclear weapons. Our level of involvement in this affair depends strongly on the people of Pakistan and their response to this tragedy.
