scariest game you've ever played?

Haven't played a lot of scary games..I remember getting scared while playin the 7th Guest on my 386 in the middle of the night back in the early 90s. Scared the hell out of me then. xD

Eternal Darkness on the Gamecube was kind of creepy but the effects ended up becoming more cheesy and comical the more you played.

Demon's Souls for PS3 is a game that just has a very creepy in-game atmosphere.

hello Kitty island adventure......the cave of sunshine and no return
dudes, i had to see a psychiatrist after i played this game....
flowers and bunnies everywhere....

To make a not troll answer, Eternal Darkness on the Nintendo Gamecube, this game is the only game that had ever given me a nightmare. If you have ever played that game please post your experiences with it. (One of the reasons I love this game is because you actually have to keep your players sanity up or you start seeing and hearing more things)

Oh and Bioshock's psychological feel is a close second.

Man, when I played Bob The Builder game at an arcade when I was four... couldn't sleep for weeks...

I don't play many scary games but probably dead space. This elevator sceen freaked the crap out of me. Although, it was like 1:30 am, all the lights were off, and my cousin was jumping like every 3 seconds lol.

go to about 3:40 in this video to know what im talking about =p Also, foul language ahoy!

Call of Cthulhu is absolutely terrifying before you get weapons. I'd say that's kinda where it ends. No game can be scary when weapons are readily available.

SO THEN THERE'S THIS PENUMBRA GAME.

Resident Evil on Gamecube.

Not that the whole game was scary, but a couple of scenes were memorable. The one where you're walking down the hall...and you have to walk past the large windows, and lighting flashes...and then the zombie dogs burst in; yeah, that's scary. That, and the shark scene. Poor Richard >.<

Resident Evil Zero scared the hell out of me, but I think Siren was scarier. Alone in The Dark: Inferno scared me the first time I played it.

Out of those 3 I'd have to say Siren.

Anyway, Doom 3 didn't really scare me, I started my FPS adventure (10 years old >:D) with Doom 1 (Goldeneye at 9 :) ) and I had the "I'm a bad mofo with a crapload of guns and im about to rampage through mars." mentality from the get-go so that softened the scare factor almost completely.

The only thing that scared me about Bioshock was the Big Daddies, and it was more excitement then fear anyway.

probably dead space, and too many trolls on this thread. >.>

Ravenholm was a decent level. And I liked Resident Evil with the zombie dogs, that snake in the chimney, the first time you face the giant spiders, and if you ever tried to go back out the front door. Even Half-Life: Opposing Force had it's moments. I'm thinking of the massive sewer tunnels fighting those things that looked like something out of Starship Troopers and you had to keep turning the night-vision off so it could recharge.

I'm with IrateDonnie about Dead Space though. I can only handle about an hour of that game before I'm all tweaked.

Since no one else has mentioned it... Fatal Frame 1. Was the only one home, had it up on the big screen TV, surround sound stereo, 10 o'clock at night and all the lights out. Played for an hour, shut it off, turned on all the lights in the house, and stayed up until dawn.

going back to older games.

system shock 2 was pretty creepy in it's own way
