I would say thompson is good in CQC - provided kar rifleman misses..

But KAR can pwn in long, mid and short range... Tts the difference between tommy and kar.

Tommy is quite helpless with snipers and MGers at mid and long range which KAR and Garand serves to close this gaps..

Its a good thing to know if more would prefer tommy, which means kar has more to pwn.. lol j/k..

1. most of my kills are rifleman. When teams need to be balanced i switch over and guess what not one single auto just rifles,sniper,and MG's. Now what does that tell you. They all go for the overpowered gun which noobs are drawn too. Like bugs to the zapper.

Damn K98k is so easy to kill with look at all the kills with it, Oh wait a minute....

Anyways enough flaming. I'm a hardcore k98'er and I love the gun. Getting good with it and having a positive K/D takes skills. I always see people using the gun but what I don't see alot of the time is someone with positive K/D with it.

ahhh, sweet, beautiful evidence. I can't wait to see how this becomes rationalized to support Dutch's argument. You will notice that the Axis Rifleman has a higher K than the Thompson. I would say this is simply because only players who can do well with the K98 play with the K98. We shouldn't fool ourselves into thinking that the Thompson is a preferred weapon for veterans, because it isn't. It attracts the noobs, and the K98 attracts a talent pool a little higher than the Thompson.

Alright rony the reason why the k/d is not good is because most of the time people hear all the magic a Thompson can do which is not true. Thompson guys rush into danger without thinking twice of what they have gotten themselves into.(or i do) Kar's you can sit back and pick the rushers one by one. We rushes have to dodge everything to get to a Kar were most fail but i prevail most of the time. The reason i think everyone picks the Thompson is because its the most used in war movies and in world war 2 games. In real life German troops would run away when they heard a Thompson fire.(Saw it on the History Channel)

This is why people hate the gun. It is without a doubt the headshot KING

When i play around i went 250 to 124 i only had 35 headshots. You dont always get a RHS when you use the gun. The only reason its not always random is because the thompson has a 15% chance of getting a headshot. Its no random its just valve loves us more then you Kar people.

no, it's random, the spread they built into the Thompson is unlike any other weapon in the game. You also can't control that spread even with the best mouse control, which means as long as you're aiming above the torso you're probably going to land a headshot. I could show you decomplied GCF files with actual statistics but I've done it a million times on these forums and I'm kind of tired LOL. Everybody here has had this happen to them: they run into a guy with a thompson, the thompson sprays wildly missing every bullet except the last one, which is a headshot. No other weapon does that, and no the MP40 is not even close to have identical stats as the Thompson.

Just look at the stats man, it's over 6% more headshots than the Mp40. Consider this, at 15% headshot rate that means that every player here scores a headshot every 7 bullets in the aggregate. Given the rate of fire of the Thompson that makes it the highest headshot per second of any weapon in the game, including the MG42. And THAT is why noobs are attracted to it.

Imo to me the mp40 kills more easily at long range. The thompson and MG42 both have spread shots and i get the same amount of kills but not deaths.(Reason MG's camp begin less able to die then a rusher.)
