Last night i shocked my pc... Scared the hell outta me. What happened was my foot touched the case and heard a static discharge through the speakers. My G11 keyboard turn off as the blue backlights were off, my mouse was off since the dpi setting lights were off , and the system froze. I really thought the entire system was trashed. I did a hard shutdown, switched the PSU off and pressed the power button a few times to drain the juice and switched her back on.

Wow what a sigh of relief. Everything checked and seems to be functioning correctly/normally.

I do know that my feet ran across the carpet a few times and as i spun around on my computer chair, my foot touched the side panel of the case. Anybody ever encounter this or have a similar situation ? Is this even normal or have a fix to prevent it from happening in the future ?

That's nothing. Ever wake up to the smell of burning metal, plastic, and sheets?

Yeah. The charging cord for my PDA "popped" out of the insulation and was about to set the bed I was sleeping in on fire.

Fun times.

Fun times huh... would have had some fun times after that lawsuit assuming you survived. Be grateful it didn't.

This does not answer my question/comment in any way. Anybody else have some useful info ?

Hmm I thought when you mount your motherboard to the case, it's suppose to help from that happening.

Kind of what i thought matt, the case is the ground... Now im not sure anymore. I do have a anti static band for working inside, this happened outside. I almost always have my nike slippers on which prevents it altogether maybe thats why i never seen it happen. From the sound through the speakers, it sounded like one helluva shock. Thanks all.
