Monitor ghosting?

What causes LCD monitor ghosting? Is it just pixel response times? Or can using a VGA D-SUB cable also contribute to ghosting?

I'm getting this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005152 and wondering if I'm going to have to worry about thing ghosting since it only comes with a VGA cable and I can't buy a DVI one right now. I have a VGA -> DVI adapter though. Would that help?

I'm sure i read somewhere to see ghosting on a 5ms lcd, you would need to be doing 500 + fps . May not be totally accurate, but the best i remember when researching my ASUS 23.6 5ms.
