I was playing CSS the other day and i asked who is using Vista. alot of people said they were using it and it sucks and its the worst OS Microsoft made. Why does it suck so much. I was thinking about getting vista so i could play Halo 2... damn Microsoft making people get vista just play play H2. Oh well.. What are your guys opinions on Vista?

I think people just dont like change that is why they say it sucks.

i like it personally.

I like Vista, It doesn't Suck, Not at all, DX10 is good, and The windows aero theme beats the ugly XP theme anyday. But there is a few compaitibility (Sorry for bad spelling) issues, Just right click, and Click run in compatibility with windows XP, Usually solves it.

But Some people think Change is bad, others say it sucks because they just heard rumors, others just plain don't like it.

Call it by its proper name - XP has fisher price mode - blue and oregne with rounded corners so you can poke your eye out or accidentally swallow the taskmaneger and choke on it and sue matell.

I hated that fisher price mode and i turned off eveyr xp visual enhancement since the day i started using it and my computer cna bette rbecause of it.

Funny story - i liek aero though.

I honestly was a big fan of Vista, but then I decided to dual boot with XP Pro and XP just runs my games so much better. In Vista I was running TF2 at about 50-60fps, and now in XP with the same system and same settings I get 80 to 90 fps. So thats a big enough increase to make me use XP =P

Edit: Oh BTW, Halo 2 isn't DX10, it just only works on Vista. Theres some hacks to get it to work on XP floating around.

vista is good for dx10, sleek look, some added features, and easy hardware installing, but what im going to do is have a second hdd with xp on it thus i can enjoy the benefits of both and erase the negaitves and its like a hybrid OS or aka Vista XP
atleast i hope it can work that way because i actually was looking forward to getting Vista, but I guess its like XP, just wait a bit and itll fix itself

hmmm, for now XP ftw.

anyone use linux?

I use Linux for my as my firewall/gateway/webserver/fileserver, it's Clarkconnect Home and it is a real easy to use distro that is managed through a web interface. I have just a simple working knowledge of Linux but plan to learn more after getting a few Cisco certs under my belt first.

I have two computers. My computer and the one living room that some how got a virus, spyware blah blah blah. So i reformatted the stuff and put ubuntu on it. I actually kinda like it, it's really simple and easy to use, everything just seems like there for you. But i think when it comes to gaming, windows ftw.

Vista generally change many of the "classic" windows preferences in programming code, GUI and other small things.

The internet and the computer aren't really ready for all these new things suddenly, that;s why Vista is uncompatible with many things.

Vista will proably get better after a year or two. Microsoft's most sucessful products of windows were proably XP and 2000 Professional.

Just my opinion and views.

I'll stay with XP for the moment even thou I have plan to get me Vista (which version, I don't know yet - any suggestion?).

Gonna wait until Vista fully patch, and my PC ready to except it properly (still underpowered to run Vista at full scale). Don't want to be like those who used Windows Me back then. That thing got problems.

OK, so - here I was trying to put music on my minidsik player but it turns out sony are such terrible people they refuse to write software for 64bit operating systems. So, alas - I booted into XP for the second time in 10 months to perform this little shinanigan. But what do I behold here after only using XP for 25 minutes but a BSOD.

Now, if anyone else blamed that on xp being terrible i would jump their case (what eevr that means) so I am not going to take that position myself because i know better. I just think its funny that in the last 12 months I have seen the same number of BSOD with vista and XP. When I used XP for a total of 10 hours, and vista for 11 months, 3 weeks, and 6 days. (the remaining few hours is travel time to and from college)

I love vista
But does take more hardware to run it
other wise just like XP when it first came out
All new tech has bugs.

I agree with ya there were people who complained about XP when it first came out but hey 2 service packs later it isn't too bad of an OS.

I've used XP, y'know, never bothered to bask in its rounded cornersness of protection... lmao and uhm well I'm on Vista for months now and I've had almost no problems at all, just little problems that are easy to fix by simple click here, restore there, default this etc etc. it's all trial and error... but well it's more of a patient, I know about computers kind of person thing.

In XP you can do just about everything that is in Vista. The only thing thats big enough to make a difference IMO is DX10. Vista is supposed to manage memory better yet by default is starts more crap up then XP. The graphical looks to me seem to be ripped of OSX in some ways. The price vs what I get in Vista is not worth the upgrade at this point. Maybe in 2010 I might switch to Vista when I have to actually upgrade my PC.

Vista the os itself is broken into many more parts,.. is that what you mean by starts more things up? Or do you mean that it uses more RAM because it does use about 1 Gig just for vista, which is another conversations, and then the other programs use the rest, and it sems to stay quite clean to me.

In xp I had to restart every so often due to the memory being used up over time, in vista the ony time i restaart is because of updates or installs.

Also, I used to format my xp machines every 6 months or every year to keep them clean and running liek the day i made them. I've had vista for over a year now and it is exactly as when I installed it. It doesnt eat itself into becomming slower (a negative windows trait that carried over since 98).

I'm becomming increasingly angry though that this vista such / bashing thread is the eon which continually gets contributed to when several of us have spent many hours to go into more detail than just bashing and whining about vista and its downfalls shortcommings and features. I dont mind one bit that an old thread was resurected but I am unhappy about the choice of thread.
