=(eGO)=? Old Monkei [GM] <-- looks snappy

With the experience gained for the first, this second round will rock the house!!! Hope the green team is spending some points on "Depends" cause YOUR GONNA NEED IT!!!

We should really consider turning off death notifications as well as making some sort of rules to get rid of the inevitable (and highly unrealistic) end of rounds where people are boarded up into some room they have blocked off with furniture. It ruins the game and the nature of the activity.

Worry not my friend, the rules have dramatically changed and some of them address these types of issues. The full rulebook will be announced along with the maps and team selections.

"War. War never changes. Since the dawn of human kind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything, from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage."

I hope to fall back on pschotic rage.

If you were in a war, and you knew that a squad of soldiers were coming to kill you, would you not set up a defense using whatever you could, and try to survive as long as possible? I would.

I think more to the heart of it, there would still be ways to get at that person. And besides, we want this to be fun. Nothing can be more frustrating than knowing where someone is and simply being unable to get to them.

Strategic positioning is one thing, but hiding in a dark corner to see if you can simply survive isn't really in the spirit of the event.

How many rooms are there in DoD:S that have one door and no windows with barricade handy? I think you just need to be prepared and it would be dumb if we make a rule saying you cant barricade up doorways with objects that are unbreakable. The object of Realism for defense is to survive, by any means.

I think the object of realism is to make "realistic" style game play, and in war it isn't just about hiding in a dark corner trying to survive while your team dies. It's about defending or try to take land/territory.

It's funny, everyone saying they think the point of "realism" is to be realistic and then suggesting we disallow some things... This kind of statement is ironic in it's own sense... Sometimes hiding in the dark when you're out numbered is the only way to win, sometimes sneaking around is the only way, other times facing head to head is how. I think if we bar something from being allowed then we immediately loose the product that "realism" is trying to produce.

No changes need to be made.

My favorite-ever realism moment came when there were four Allies hunkered down in the top of the Allied sniper house in Donner. The one remaining Axis player discovered he had one rifle nade left and, after properly timing it (and with some dumb actions on the part of the Allies), it was the best Realism "game over" ever.

The usual tactic of the defending team is to send out a few dummies (I'm usually one of the dummies) to defend the streets while they go and find the furthest, darkest corner of the map to hide and build their barricade. That is not realistic and all of everyone else's other points are really moot. I've never seen someone retreat, take the couple 30-40 seconds it takes to set up a correct barricade and THEN camp. They always do it at the beginning of the round.

Also, if we want to be more realistic, there is no way one guy could easily move a bed frame onto the flight of stairs on Donner and then climb over it. Or, when the attacker comes, there is no way that shooting his rifle at the bed frame would make it shatter and allow him access to the person above. It would require him making friends with the defending player and then talking into him helping to disassemble the bed frame and move it piece by piece. Then, as they sit in the entrance to the sniper house in Donner and have their tea and speak to eachother as friends, he would have to pull his pistol out and put a quick bullet to the head of his foe.
