The creator of the HL2 mod Minerva:Metastasis was hired by Valve a few years back to work on HL3 --- if youve never played the mod.. it is 1 of the best I have ever seen, and Valve felt the same. It can be found here:

It took me about a good 8-10 days to finish at 3 hours a day. If you haven't played it or have never heard of it, DL it and enjoy. You will see what I mean when I say it is 1 of the best Mods ever.

Anyway, my bet is on Left 4 Dead (one of them) coming to PS3, EP3/HL3 is being put on the store shelves as he makes the announcement, and DOTA 2 is becoming a commercial game on the source engine.

Remember, it's three announcements over the next 12 months, not all three at once. I'd conjecture a beta-test of HL: EP3 and LF4D3, or maybe some new campaign/gamtypes for both L4D and L4D2. No clue what the third could be.

Besides Portal 2, there's obviously got to be another big game in the making. The rumored DoTA (have they 'officially' announced that yet?) is probably one, I'm guessing the Blackmesa project will be another, and that HL 3 will be released...sometime in the 3rd quarter of 2012
