TF2 technical assistance

Basically, I've been interested in TF2 for a while now. I won Fluxion's contest ( THANKS AGAIN! ), and received TF2. I downloaded it, and met the requirements (when I go to Video Setting > Advanced, it says the recommendation for my system is on HIGH).

When playing, I get insane lag which I can't seem to get away, windowed mode, lower settings, anything. Is there anything I can do to play TF2 or is it a lost cause?

get more ram =/ mimum requirements means the game will turn on... doesn't say crap about being playable

looks store bought meaning lots of unnecessary stuff using resources

had it been built by u OR at the very least running on clean copy of windows YOU MIGHT be able to play decently but id advise AT LEAST 1gb of ram....the REAL requirements have gone up over the years to to updates and new items making the game use a little more than it used to also your processor BARELY meets the requirements id say with a better cpu and a little more ram it would work fine

But in case you can't afford to upgrade
There is ways to change stuff in console command to manually lower the counts even more to improve FPS i do not know how to do this but there also low poly models mods you can download that are suppose to increase fps


just as proof it has gone up in requirements since it has first release due to updated and adding items the file size of tf2 is roughly 7gb now

guess i actually should say 9-10 gb

no worries, my friend! try to run it using this awesome config. the graphics will not look good, though. But hey, as long as you can play it there should be no reason not to use it

pretty much all of ur stats are bottlenecks. i remember when i used to have my single core cpu (intel p4 3.2 ghz) & it would lag like crazy when i went into close combat. if i find my intel cpu, ill sell it to ya 4 say $10 (if ur interested). not sure where it & the motherboard went tho. i have to move in about a month, so im sure ill find it within that time period. i know i didnt discard it, but not sure where it is right now. i cant promise that the motherboard will work since its been around clothes & has prob taken in static electricity (which isnt good for the motherboard), in which case i can help you find a similar compatible motherboard for the cpu. i also have an nvidia 7600gt video card thats just collecting dust (but inside a plastic case to keep more dust away from it). ill sell the video card to ya for $25. pretty much the memory you will have to go hunt down on your own since the motherboard that i used i took the memory from it. right now the memory will be the most expensive upgrade for you, seeing as how the technology to power the cpu will be very limited in terms of memory, but i can help you with that as well. just pm me & let me know if your interested.

now i cant guarantee ya that u wont have lag issues (network wise). the only time ull have lag issues (hardware wise) is when its close combat. thats all.

Ok, first of all...update windows.
Then, is this a desktop or laptop that you are trying to run it on?
If it is a desktop and you wish to have it run at decent framerates on high settings, you can put 300-500 or so in it and get it there.
If it is a laptop, you might consider getting a refurbished desktop to play it on. If you can find a core 2 duo processor > 2 GHz that you can put a better video card in, you should be pretty good.

Basically, the problem is, those were the minimum system requirements three years ago when the game was released, since then the graphics have improved (tons of new particle effects and such), and the game now uses much more RAM due to all the content (literally over a hundred new weapons, hats, items, etc, that your computer still has to all have everything for them loaded in the RAM while playing) they have added in the various Major Updates.

I think even Plants vs Zombies would lag a Sempron 3100.
