Halo: Reach - Day of release thoughts

You can just buy one with a hard drive? I don't see a reason not too, plus the game saves on the hard drive while you play it, so therefore you need one.

At the moment, all I am interested in on the Xbox is Reach. Nothing else. If I was going to go ahead and make an investment towards it, I was going to go the cheaper route and buy the new 4GB Arcade Xbox. I don't need a hard drive because I'm not very interested in anything else that I couldn't already play on my PS3.

played the game last night
game is full of things copied from the first 3 halos
was not impressed, i assume the only reason to get this game is to play online

I'm not trying to defend a game I don't play, but I would think that a new game in a series would have things similar to the previous games.

People enjoy a series because it takes fresh approaches to a system that already works in the eyes of the fans. I don't think the point of a new game in a series would ever be to completely change it.

LOVE THIS GAME, picked up the LE bundel, love the new x-box.... no friends yet though lol just my next door "Mooch", lol guy never buys his own games he waits for me to, all in all though we love it. I really could use some friends though to smash some face online, gamertag is ItsOnlyPanfie, adding it into the other thread as well. So final thoughts on this game:

Story: 10/10

Game Play: 9/10, the POA could use some work on some missions but you learn to work around it.

Music: 10/10

Length: 9/10, could of been a bit longer however still has some length to it compared to some of the FPS that have been coming out as of late.

My final score is 9.5/10 truely an epic game for this year... keep it up bungie!

I doubt the story is perfect.

But length can be measured by replay value, which means I'm going to get a lot of time out of Reach. Think I'm gonna buy it today. Or tomorrow.

Ok so I bought it yesterday, and I started playing it (after dinner ofc). Honestly, I was like "UGH IT'S GONNA SUCK IDK WUT IM DOING RAAAAWR" Then, it grew on me. The graphics are amazing, customization is awesome, and the story line was well made. I'm glued on multiplayer and campaign. It's really hard to explain why I thought it was good, but you should get this game if you like FPS games.

Overall Rating 9/10. I might be playing this more than mw2 (Note I have no other experience with cod games unless its like the first one lol.)

EDIT: The AI is pretty stupid however. They never jump into your vehicle half the time and they do whateva they want, just a FYI ;)

I think this is a kind of bias review.. no game has a 10/10 story, and from what I hear is pretty terrible, 9/10 is like half life 2. Also 9/10 on length? My friend beat in 7 hours, I don't think that deserves a 9/10 when we have games that give you 60+ hours.

Every review is objective and should reflect how the reviewer feels about the game. I've read a review of Bioshock 2 which was nothing more than the person reviewing the game venting out his massive disappointment in the game - being a Bioshock-fan.

With that said though, every game has its' flaws and you should always attempt to bring them up - I know I do. Even though it deeply hurt me, I found flaws in God of War III.

But yeah, haven't played Halo - never cared for it. A friend who owns Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3 said that Reach was a massive disappointment and the only thing it succeeded in was making him want to play the previous Halo games again.

See you heard that the story is terrible. Have you even played Halo Reach? From what I have played it's pretty good. As for the length well that is on par for an average FPS game. You cannot compare a FPS story line to a RPG story line. Plus most people who bought Halo Reach will spend their time playing the MP. If Counter Strike had a SP I doubt it will last no more than 7 hours depending on which difficulty you play on.

Yes I've played it on a friends console (not much, just about half of the campaign and from what I saw it wasn't anything amazing), and the general consensus is that the story is meh, we can at least agree on it's not a 9/10. I wasn't comparing a FPS story line to a RPG story line, I was comparing the story line to Half life 2.. which is an fps, unless you were talking about length.

Even if it is only focused on MP, then why rate the SP a 9/10.

The other halos had a pretty damn good campaign, so why should this one be any less.

It made $200 Million on its' first day out and besides, Microsoft = Xbox.

What matchmaking deal should I do to get the most credits? I like invasion and I do get like at least 500 points. Also I heard grunt apocalypse gave you 1000 at least, how do I get to play it?

Gruntpocalypse is a score attack gamemode in cooperative matchmaking. It's fun.

Got this game on Saturday, it's really fun. Offline and online are both great.

So why even bother having a 10/10 if it never happens, why not just make it 9/9? Think on that.

Just because someone gave it a 10 out of 10 doesn't make it perfect or anything. They gave it a 10 because they liked the story line. I didn't care for the Bioshock story so I would give it a 6/10.
