Steam can update your ATI drivers now

So awesome, if you have an ATI card and want to check if you have the latest drivers you just click Steam->Update AMD Video Drivers. Then it checks for the latest drivers, and downloads them (extremely fast I might add, faster than I have from amds site). Also, their installer didn't even make me restart, and removed the old drivers files.

This is epic, im gonna test it with my laptop now. I hope they add nvidia support soon too

Instead of downloading it in Steam, it sends you to Nvidia's website to the latest driver download. Still useful.

Yes, but ultimately i would like to have it all on 1 program
 
Ati could have been making their drivers not suck, but instead they integrated crappy drivers into steam...

Same with both my cards (4870 and my 5850)...

But this makes my life easier having drivers that are a few less clicks away... My laptop, its a sad day for it as its equipped with a 8600M GT D:!...
 
I define problem as something getting worse.

Like 10.6/7 drivers

performance going down is a problem
 
Crossfire scaling, still pretty bad.
Windows 7 support is still lacking (CCC crashing and hanging, not sure if it was fixed yet)
Games not as optimized as they could be.
Multi GPU's with excessive micro stutter.
Still lacking the ability to use 120Hz refresh rate on a 1080p TV. (I know that's a '3D' thing, but it's still disappointing for me at least)

Just to name a few, but it's mostly from a Crossfire config. It's not nearly as bad as it was when Vista came out, so I give them a lot of credit for that.

The crossfire drivers are just horrid. I know a guy that only gets a 5 fps boost over a single 5870. Awesome, right?

I was hoping someone would post this.
AMD drivers are easy to set up, so there would be no 'problems', but there is little to no performance increase. The release drivers for the 5870 are only a little worse than the newest drivers. The performance increase is almost that of Release drivers of the GTX 400, to the first drivers after that. Pretty bad. :/
 
It just annoying how nVidia guys get a nice performance boost with each update while 5xxx drivers can get worse or show like .05% improvement in some obscure benchmark
 
I tried this today, I got an update and didn't have to reboot. Just for giggles, I went into TF2 and no crashes or anything. Pretty sweet.

p.s. I rebooted after a game anyway :)
