Nobody likes shooting pink at each other. Duh.
Pink is so ineffective and underpowered since the last patch. Players usually shoot blue or purple at each other, as they both give a good balance of accuracy, damage, are nice contrast colors to the gaming environment, and as "cool" colors (as in low temperature, associated with cold), they can cause your foes to relax upon seeing your somber light show, giving you the edge.
If you like easy kills and want to be called a noob that can't aim, use green.
Using orange excessively may get you banned or result in whiners. The color weapon of choice for online trolls.
Red is a confusing color. When you shoot someone with it, you don't know if that's red blood, or...the red you just shot them with. People tend to steer from red despite it's great burst damage and close combat potential because of this. Still, a skilled player that has mastered red is a force to be reckoned with.
Finally, there is brown. Brown has high accuracy and low damage, so people wonder why to use it. Have you looked at the gaming environment lately? EVERYTHING IS BROWN! It's a safe way to go because, when the ground, buildings, vehicles, and uniforms(and on some maps, yes, even the sky is brown) are all brown, nobody can see the brown you are shooting at them flying across the field because IT'S THE SAME COLOR AS EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE GAME.
Bonus brown protip: Much like the rocket jump in other FPS games, jump up in the air and shoot brown at your feet. You may take a little damage, but you will then become brown yourself, and blend into the environment like an invisible pastel shooting ninja!
So yeah, nobody shoots pink because of the nerf.
