Everyone loves hats, no doubt about that. But what could make them even better?

Stats. That would make hats the best thing in tf2 ever.

It could also give some hats a better name for themselves. Example, most people hate the jarate pee belt for the sniper right? heres something to make it a little more interesting.

+25% chance for crit
Cooldown rate decreased by 50%
Larger radius when jarate is thrown (More people are effected by the jarate)

cool right? Say what you think about this, and post your own ideas for hat stats! :D

here are a few more:

Pyro Beanie: Pyro can jump higher now, falls down slower (cause of the beanie propeller), If hit by airblast pyro goes much farther then normal (this can be good & bad.)

The Hotrod: Engineer can now build and upgrade buildings much faster then usual, but moves slower when moving buildings.

Glengarry bonnet: When Eyelander And Chargin Targe are equipped: The heads counter makes you go faster up to 6 heads instead of 4, Its easier to turn when using the chargin targe now.

So your saying Valve should make hats have an affect?

Yeah, i like that idea. Like i have the Fireman helmet, the brigader or whatever, and it would be cool on the pyro if he burned less when hit or something

Sounds like an interesting idea to me. I'd really like it, and it would add a nice effect to hats.

But then i'd like hats to be given more often. Ive got 90+ hours on that game and only 2 hats have been given

well thats the thing, if the hats are so rare, the stats the hats give would be really good and not really give off that many bad things, Which would make certain hats even more sought after.

As long as the stats didnt overpower, it could be nice as a little boost.

I would put for hotrod fire resistance too..

But You know there was some thread on steam forum what should which hat give from stats, same thread as Yours only for every hat

people wearing the same hat on a team should get a damage bonus or something

It would unbalance TF2 more than it already is.

The biggest imbalance in TF2 is a tossup between intelligence and communication with poor class selection close behind. No update will ever fix any of these.

I think hats just ruined the game. They should go back to tf2 how it was 2 years ago. I dont mind the class updates and achievements, they just ruined the game for me D:

This.

While true for teamwork and winning the match, it doesn't change the fact that there are some weapons that are just broken and shouldn't exist.

I disagree strongly, you think people get angry about not having hats now? Then see what happens when the guy who has played sniper for an hour kills the guy whos played it for 500 because the second guy's quickscope shot to the head didn't do enough damage because one of the sniper hats increases the snipers health.

Hats aren't given out very fairly and they already cause much strife and rage to players who don't have many or don't have the ones they want, this would just amplify the situation by a ton.

This is absolutely true. When communication and intelligence of the players (both in their play and class selection) is the winning factor in many matches, then it goes without saying that the game must be pretty balanced. Otherwise, it would be "The team with the most demomen wins," assuming demomen were really OP and a team needed to have many of them to win. TF2 is as balanced as it always has been. Sounds like someone is just raging over the fact that they are paper and can only beat rock, and get pwned by scissors repeatedly.

As for stat-hats, when hats were about to be implemented, I believe Robin or Gabe said that eventually they would have stats, and not just be cosmetic. That may have been abandoned, though.

It would be interesting to have hats that have an effect, but at the same time I'd like to keep other hats with no effect, just fun looking :)
