American Dollar Redesigns

Anyway, you guys do know that George Washington didn't really do anything special either right? He was just a General, and a mediocre one at that. Hes basically on the dollar bill for the same reason Obama would be on the dollar bill, hes the first of something.

Therefore I think it would be appropriate.

Also, I think all those bills should be the same length but have shorter images, so they're easier to sort.

I think we should do the design that Rukus likes. But make them out of polymer instead of paper. They do this in Australia i think. The money can get wet and its just a acceptable because it doesnt ruin the money.
 
Isn't money generally like stamps, etc., where they don't put living people on it?

Plus, it seems really silly that those were designed by British people.
 
Maybe if they did this, people won't have pictures with money in their hands anymore.
 
Thomas Jefferson should be on the 1 dollar bill. One of our best presidents of all time. Also the design is meh.
 
Remember folks lets not drag this into a political thread. Lets focus on the redesigns instead of the politics.
 
Pretty cool but IMO I would rather see Washington on the dollar or hundred. I think a national monument/park or a famous place like say the Black Hills or mount Rushmore would be pretty cool on our currency.
 
Call me old fashioned but i like how the bills look already :/ , but dont get me wrong those look "cute". :)

Yes, I would hate to have to lock a thread because it delves into politics.





I like the current design proposal, I think its about time that they redesigned the sizes too. Many other countries have already changed their currency to to different sizes so that blind people have an easier time with cash transactions, and I think its about time that we follow suit ;)
 
Heck I dont care what is put on the new design, As long as I get money that looks like that and it doesn't have an annoying picture Im perfectly fine with it.

I do believe it's time to add Braille for the blind. If you look it a the long term it would cost a lot of money to redo the machines that print the money, find the best paper to hold the extra weight from the Braille, redo all vending machines, plus I would think the Braille would wear out after time. That is also one reason why US will not covert to the Metric System would just cost too much money.

Agreed. What reason is there to replace Washington on the 1$ or Lincoln on the 5$? Perhaps remove Hamilton and put Roosevelt (I don't really care which one) on the 10$? Poor Jefferson got a raw deal getting put on the 2$...the black sheep of all US currency.

Taking great American icons like Franklin, Washington, Jefferson (though he's not seen much anyways) off our money? What's the point? Poor Deists always get discriminated against. =p

Also, I got nothing against Obama, but he has no place on the 1$ bill just like Bush or Clinton have no place on them IMO.
 
Well someone new has to be on the $50. Ulysses S Grant was a wartime hero, peacetime eff-up.
