Need a new video card.

I was recently considering to remake my entire PC basically. But since I will be going off to college soon. I figured if I was going to leave soon I would get the best parts out then for my PC. I wanted to get a video card that works best for my 480 watt limit. I have nothing else in my PCI slots I was looking for a NVIDIA card. Any help would be great.

I'd say a GTX 460, it may be pushing it a little bit depending on the actual maker/model of your PSU though.

Even if you had an i7 your would never pull anywere close to 480w.

As long as that 480w PSU is from a quality manufacturer you should be good.

EDIT: all of the 480w PSUs on newegg are from crappy brands, do you think you could tell us the brand of your power supply?

you will probably have to open up your case to see who the manufacturer is. If it is raidmax, I don't know enough about them to tell you if its a "really good" PSU or not.

Either way, i 3rd the 460 recommendation. I gotta ask though, why only the considerations for Nvidia?

Wow has issues with my ATI card. That game I have been playing alot lately and apparently it has that problem with alotta those cards.

Also would you mind linking me a card thats about 250 but better than my current HD 4850. I don't wanna push my PSU to hard and I don't wanna invest that huge a card since I will be leaving soon and will be getting a new PS and case and all that at around june next year. I should have been more clear.

It will die, and probably take other components with it.


Or at least before you get your new GPU.

I doubt that a Raidmax 480w unit could even do 250w.

Why the hell would you pay 30$ more for that card?

If you want a 1GB 460, get this one:

Well you can risk it with the Raidmax PSU if you want.

Ok, well that is 100% better than a raidmax PSU.

But it is still 100% away from being a "good" power supply.

Regardless, It should be able to run a GTX 460

Just go with one of those two he picked, it's pretty much the same price as the one you did. You'll be very happy.

I would pick the MSI Cyclone, since it is cooler and quieter, but only by a small margin. I think both have voltage control, so you'd be good either way.
Just pick the one you like the most aesthetically.
