Anyways, it's still a pretty sweet deal. $140 for a card that should be worth $200 and it has a sweet stock clock speed on it unless the page isn't giving us more info. like whether it's OC'd already or not.

Plenty of people are getting 5770+ to 900core, and 1000 core is very popular on 5850/5870s. Just go on OCN.

But the card doesn't perform nearly as well as a $200 card. Have you looked at any benchmarks?

That's the standard clock, though. This is almost like a superclock, except it still has room to OC or something. The standard for the GTS 450 is like 700MHz to 800MHz isn't it?

*EDIT* Btw - I might not make sense sometimes right now. Kinda sorta really tired cus I've been up since 6 AM yesterday working on school work so I'm dead tired.
 
you have to remember that any card in that chart can be overclocked, so your argument is invalidf

I had my 5770 at 1000MHz core stable

That is the most retarded statement I've ever heard from you -which is saying something. So, benchmarks are completely useless? Some of those cards are OC'd.

The range of voltage is quite limited (measured physically at the measure points):
VCore: 1.02 V ... 1.14 V (default) ... 1.24 V (+8.7%)
VMem: 1.47 V ... 1.58 V (default) ... 1.69 V (+7.0%)
PLL: 0.98 V ... 1.08 V (default) ... 1.11 V (+2.8 %)

Could this be why the Cards have been burning? Not sure if this is normal, but would the voltage measure points differ from what the software reads?

Isnt default .987v and max 1.087 ?

2-3 year warranty vs a lifetime warranty? I'll take the lifetime one. Plus, all of my receipts are nice and organized so it's not hard to find lol. I don't really care about selling the card. If it blows, I'll trash it. If I upgrade, I'll just use it as a dedicated PhysX card.

All GTX 460's have a lame voltage cap, but it has since been worked around.

If you honestly have your card for more than 3 years, go for it. I have not had a single PC part for more than 3.

Motherboards cant be used as PhysX cards, so your second argument is completely invalid

What are you even talking about, video cards can be used as a dedicated PhysX card, I'm not stupid. I never mentioned anything about motherboards so I don't know where you are getting this from. A 460GTX is a video card, not a motherboard.

Both MSI and eVGA make motherboards that carry the same warranty (lifetime for eVGA, and Serial-based 3 year for MSI) do they not?

Yeah, but dude. He never said anything about a motherboard. He was talking about the GTX 260 that dbee has. Use that as PhysX.

The discussion was on the HAWk 460... Played some Crysis last night and saw 0 % usage from the 8800 card.

I decided to give the Gigabyte 460 a try since i can buy it locally cheap, has great reviews from users and sites as well. If it dont clock very well , ill probably end up ordering the ASUS from newegg since MC dont carry the 1gig version.

Thoght this through way too long and hard . Had enough.
 
Lol, why are you talking about mobos? Warranties also cover video cards, do they not?
 
Ah. Quick update about the GTS 450 I posted. It IS in fact overclocked from the factory. Still a sweet deal, though.
 
Hawk is nice, I just got it up to 850 on Stock Voltage with no adjustment through MSI afterburn, I just bumped it up to 850 Core Clock, and its been running stable ingame for like 6 hours :D , I shall see by how much I can bump it up with voltage adjustments ;)
