I know I am the new guy here, (literally just accepted a few hours or so ago), but I have been apart of the steam community before it was steam, DoD was beta, and CS was like1.2.
In all those years what I have noticed from running servers in the past is when you launch a new server, especially one that the IP belonged to another map, its a good bit of work sometimes for the clan to get in those and populate them to before the general traffic picks up.
Think of the average player such as myself back in the day before I found eGO servers. I would check off a mental list in my head when searching for a random server to join.
Example:
Is it a map I like?
Are there players in it?
How is the Ping?
The players in it are crucial. I liked Kalt a lot. But towards the end no one would be in there. Now I only play eGO servers in DoD. If there is just 2-4 people I would hop in to help ramp it up a bit so we could get a good game moving. Some days if most servers but avalanche were empty then i would sit in there solo for 15-20 min goofing off till another joined then the hunt began.
But if I were randomly searching, I organize the server lists from most populated down. I would not go in there.
I think that perhaps in the beginning it might be rough. But if just a few clan members hop over for some 4 vs 4 or more during peak game time in US, I think over time you would build general traffic. more and more random people will add it to their favorites and check on it first before going random again. especially if this map is as popular as I am hearing.
I personally would love to give this map a try, and if times are set up to hop in and play or a shout in another server is made for volunteers to come play I will be more than willing to join in for even just some 1 on 1.
eGO has the best community I have ever seen in DoD. Once they get hooked they will come back.
