broken insurgency!!!

This is more a tech help problem. Topic moved to appropriate forum section.

Dangit Snipeye, ninja-moved it before I could :P

Anyway, could you give us some more information about the problem? How is it crashing, is it going immediately to desktop, is it freezeing up, is it looping a sound over and over? Also, if you could give us some information about your computer, like what processor, raphics card, version of windows, and amount of RAM you have it would really help us diagnose your problem!

hi
its crashing as soon as i click on the arrow to play and then the screen is going to a black screen with Microsoft windows thing saying hl2 isn't responding i think it might be something to do with my graphics coz its as soon as i can see the map and my computer could run it before so it could be somthing to do with a download
thanks

Update drivers. Verify and defrag game cache. restart steam. Then if it still crashes, reinstall. Also make sure you go to your options and turn off all ingame music. that has been known to cause alot of issues.

Something similar was happening to me the other day.

I found out that it only happened when I joined a certain servers. I think there was a problem with servers being a different version than the client, but for some reason the usual warning didn't pop up.

So maybe try a different server or start a game by yourself and see if the same thing happens?

This is an ongoing issue with windows vista and windows 7, please know you are not the only one to be having this issue and i will continue to read on this issue to attempt to resolve it.

Get Speccy, then upload a picture of that.
Then do the following quote. (But don't use the links, they're not for your computer)

Hm...
Have you deleted the ClientyRegistery.blob yet? Log out of Steam first.
Once you do that, try again.
If that fails, right click on it, then go to properties. Verify the Game Cache, in the local files tab
steam.jpg

If that fails, get the latest drivers, which you can get through Steam like so
steamdrivers.jpg

But if you can not get the drivers through Steam, get them here (this link is the download)
Also consider updating your sound drivers, which can be found at Msi's website (I had trouble finding these, so you're going to have to find those yourself).

That's all I can think of for now.

If Windows is throwing an error it means there's a log file for it. Go to Start > Run > eventvwr.msc

Open up the Windows Logs > Application logs, and check immediately a crash what the error is for hl2.exe. Post the entire description of the crash here. Try it as a simple diagnostic step in addition to everything else here.

Bingo, looks like you got nvidia, i love nvidia, source however does not like it in windows vista/7. Please try this

1. Open up steam and click on the "my games" tab

2. Right click your game(mod) and select "properties"

3. click "set launch options"

4. add -dxlevel 90 at the end of the line (make sure to place a space before the -)

5. if those do not work, please try -dxlevel 81 or -dxlevel 80

please try this and let me know if it resolves the issue

thanks but this didnt work have you got any other ideas

Turn off ingame music. If you havent already, that has been known to cause alot of crashes. Get a more recent driver...not the newest. nvidia drivers are the best when they are brand new. Get one like 2 or 3 before the newest.

Make sure to turn off all antivirus and firewall software, you say it crashes upon joing server. Do you by any chance have a linksys router with open ports and all that fancy stuff?

Do what? Video drivers? Look at my last post.
Turn off ingame sound? Options -> Audio -> put Music to 0. :P

thank you so so so so much the sound thing really worked i really owe u 1
