The Update, eGO, and You

Alright, as many of you know, the Mann-Conomy update is out. Our servers are being updated, and it looks awesome. Now, just like every update our servers are going to fill up to the top. Now, this means several things, but what I want to get across to you guys is this. Recruit. Everyone is a recruiter, and lately the TF2 Division Numbers have been slacking. Get out there on the servers, and spend some time recruiting new members from all the people coming in to play! Play and have fun, people will notice! Then go ahead and casually drop that eGO is accepting new members! Get in Ventrilo! Talk with others, if we get a group of people in Vent going around and recruiting it can be very fun! When I get home I'm going to jump on Vent, jump in a room, get in server and do some good hard recruiting! Anyone who wants can join me!

So, be polite, be efficient, and be good faces for eGO. People notice, and they will appreciate it.

This is where you'll find the rules, guidelines and process for recruiting public players into EdgeGamers.
This is not set in stone and is not required. If you have your own way of recruiting, that's fine.
This is for others to gather ideas on how to recruit. If you have any information you think should be added, contact Toilet Pastries or Mister Adam

Recruiting Tips Practices

Limited or No Use of All Chat Messages
We believe that these type of messages, while they get the word out, are less effective
then actually adding the player and getting to know them. We'd prefer
your messages to the players be more personal, not a blanket
message done over all chat.

Quality vs Quantity
It's all about retention. We'd like to have 1000 new recruits, but we'd rather have
10 or 20 really good ones. The kind of recruit who would eventually make a good admin.

Don't abandon the recruit.
Stay with them through the whole process. Nothing is worse than making your first friend in a new group only to have them leave you all alone.

Be Friendly
Add them to your Steam friends. Make casual conversation. Even if they don't join eGO, you'll make a friend.
Who knows, they might change their mind later, and can come to you for help.
Answer their questions as best you can, if you can't, find someone or refer them to someone who can.

Players Under 13 Years Old
Make sure they are 13 or older. This is a big rule that has to be enforced.
By COPPA Law we are required to have parental consent to allow them to join the clan if they are under 13 years old.
If the player is under 13, they can still join eGO, but they will be required to fill out a COPPA form and mail/fax it to us.
Please inform them that they will need to do this in order to join.
