As most problems related to computers can be solved in minutes when the computer is physically available, not having direct access makes diagnosing simple problems much more difficult. As a result, the more specific, detailed, and step by step you are the better the chances are that your problem can be fixed in a timely manner.

SUBJECT LINE OF POST: Source Engine Problem

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM: Every time I play a game and somebody kills me I am doing one or more of the following: typing, talking on the phone, eating, playing with no sound, playing with one hand, playing with keyboard only, playing with mouse only, my mom was yelling at me, I alt-tabbed, I hit the windows key, my computer froze, I had a lag spike, my brother is using bit torrent, router restarted, mouse / keyboard ran out of batteries, fire alarm, AFK, gun didn’t fire, I was killed by a hacker, A teammate shot me down to 5 health, or I was reloading.

OTHER HARDWARE / SOFTWARE AFFECTED: All games – including arcade, physical and board games.
WHEN / HOW OFTEN DOES THE PROBLEM OCCURE: Every time.
RECENT CHANGES (SOFTWARE / HARDWARE / ETC): I recently installed a Voodoo 2 to SLI with my 8800gt
RECENT EVENTS: lighting struck my pc as I was carrying it to my friends house after mine lost power – I dropped it several times, once in a pool while it was on.
LAST TIME COMPUTER WORKED FINE: Not since Commander Keen
EXACT ERROR MESSAGES: What does ID 10t mean?
THINGS YOU HAVE ALREADY TRIED TO FIX PROBLEM: Upgraded video card to Voodoo 2. Spray WD40 on motherboard to get water out. Physical inspection of CPU dye with fingers to ensure that it was not scratched. Restarted windows, reinstalled windows and games. Removed RAM while computer was on to free memory. Searched for ANY key. Power Cycled Modem. My dial up one.
