Team Fortress 2 Hat Trading Guide
I'm getting tired of people asking for horrible trades and trying to scam people. So here I am trying to help you not get scammed by Pubs, or even fellow eGO members!
Hatless Hats: 1 for 1 | These are incredibly hard to trade, if you have one and want to trade, good luck to you. They are the least wanted hats in the TF2 community.
Tier 1 Hats (First 9): 1 for 1 | This is just because they are older and more common. Even if they are painted, they are still 1 for 1, but you could get a better hat out of it. The most wanted out of this group would be the Beanie.
Tier 2 Hats (Classless Update): 1 for 1-2 | This is generally the same as tier one. There are some exceptions, like the Vintage Vintage Tyrolean you could trade for 2 lower tier hats. Same goes for some other good tier 2 hats, you could be able to get 2 lower tier hats out of them. Most wanted are the Hound Dog, Vintage Vintage Tyrolean, Ze Goggles, and a few others.
Preordered Hats: 1 for 1-3 | These hats include, Bill's Hat, Ear Buds, etc. These hats are considered rare because not many people preorder games. The older the game was released, the rarer the preordered hat. Bill's Hat, Ear Bud, and Sam and Max's hat are wanted badly by the community.
Tier 3 Hats (Polycount): 1 for 1-3| Polycount hats are wanted badly. They are new, and people like new things. The Sumbrahoe (what I call it) is a very common Polycount hat, because it is the most common hat to come out of a crate, I expect you to get 1-2 hats. The rest you could easily get 2 hats out of them, but the hats that are apart of builds for the 5 classes with builds, like the Milkman, are worth 3 hats. Most wanted are the build hats.
Unusual Hats (Polycount): 1 for 4-6 | These are the rarest hat in the game. No matter what class they are for, or what hat they are, they are easily worth 4 hats. All Unusual Hats are wanted badly by the community.
Side note: I know you might have gotten in a deal a Polycount hat for 2 hats, or 1 hats, but these are just things that I have noticed and observed from many TF2 community forums. These aren't exact facts, but it is what is expected by many TF2 players. This was made to help you NOT get ripped off, not to help you rip off someone else.
Thank you,
Baen
