I had some problems when i was trying to turn on my PC today. I turned it on, it loaded the BIOs but it was a bit slower. slower renough that you would notice the change. I loaded up the windows xp thing and i typed in my account password. it slowly loaded and i just wwaited and it wouldn't load up to my desktop so i thought that maybe my processor was unstable so i restarted and down clocked it to 1.8 ghz and it loaded up everything at the same speed but i got to my desktop. when i got there it was all messed up. It's like if i ust got the computer. and stuff. you know what i mean. like the scereen was just blank blue with like a couple of icons. so i ran spyware and its doing its thing as we speak right now... but seriously im like clueless on why this thing happened. can someone tell me.

Since i am a Tech Savvy Guy, i'll see what i can do for ya.
Here are my conclusions - CPU overheat due to dust and overheating.
-Virus, Spyware or Malware
-Overload of Firewall(when it takes up too much space on Hard Drive)
-Unable to load Msconfig and the regarding settings.
-scratches on the harddrive that gives difficulty to the computer to extract Data from it.
-Too much storage space taken.

These are the conclusions i made, now, i am gotta try for the solutions.

-Take it to a computer shop and ask for reformat
-Before doing that open your computer case and clean it off Dust and Particles(do it once 1 1/2 year).
-Run a virus scan if you can get to desktop.

These are all i can think of at this moment. please give me more detail on the situation before my full anaylis of the problem. I'll remain active on this post.

alright thanks. but now when i check to see if all my games are still working. all are working except for steam. i checked my hard drive to see if the program wasa still there. yes it is. and xfire detects it too. but whenever i load it it says the following

Okay, I am not really talking about the games. The games are just unimportant applications. I want to know if your computer i.e Harddrive, RAM, CPU and the sort are working or not?

I need to know those before i can help ya with fixing steam.

If they are alright please respond again and i'll try to see what i can do.

. firefox oddly runs a lot faster now. how do i check the ram and the HD?

everything seems to be working fine. just not steam i even tried reinstalling. same thing happened

I'm not sure after reading this if you are saying your initial problem is fixed or not. But for the more recent problem, have you tried loggin out and loging back in? EXITING and even reinstalling steam are not the same as leaving steam open and clicking the 'change user' > 'log out' button and then signing back in (for some reaosn unknown to myself). see if that helps man. It does for me.

Dont hit your comp because youre not supposed to...if you do thats your choice and you understand the consquences, good or bad, that may happen. I, personally, have done it and nothing bad happens to the comp, sometimes helps it, not saying hitting it wont cause bad things to happen to it.

Please do not promote nor advise people to do thing totheir computer which will cause harm to it. Further more - if even it was done in a mannor that it did not cause harm there is no technical reason whatso ever that would cause that suggestino to either work or be appropriate to reccomend to another person.

Frost can you please tel us what operating system you are using.

btw sometimes hitting the side of the tower and then restarting will get the cpu to recognize its correct speed, dad does it to his old server with dual cpus, to his gaming comp once, and me to mine once. it helps but BE CAREFUL or you could perm ruin your comp

yea, yea i know youre not supposed to hit it, but it can help. also if your tower is a metal case you can kick it if youre angry and it relieves anger and again i know youre not supposed to hit the computer

Dude, your typo getting worse. Are you suffer lack of sleep? What time is it that you type the message above?

I typed that message at 4 in the morning - and no i dont get enough sleep. Durring school, sometimes i sleep every other day, or go to bed at 5 in the morning.

But anyways, i think i typed that with one hand while trying to fix these other two laptops - i put my effort into the responces - into being accurate in my suggestions and thoughts - not so much in the fingerwork.

try reinstalling visual C++ library, if that doesnt help then try contacting MS cause C++ lib might be corrupt

if you have to go to the last resort, wipe the drive, and reinstall everything, though from what it looks like its not that bad
