Due to a harsh case of me not wanting to screw up my PC, I've done it.
I've done what was how to fix my steam offline mode error, and GUESS WHAT?!? More errors yay..

So now when I click on steam.exe(to run it) or anything on steam for that matter, it says "Steam.exe(main exceptions) To run steam you must be connected to the Internet."

*sighs*
Someone help, you guys are my second last resort!

I deleted client blob blah, nothing.
My firewall isn't the problem.

What exactly did you do to try and fix your offline mode?

Well I posted a problem on steam support, so this is what they told me to do:

Go to the steam folder
Delete everything EXCEPT steam.exe, and SteamApps.
Restate your PC, run steam exe.
(that's when I got the error)

change your DownLoad region in Steam tools..... and go to www.piriform.com .... download, install and run Ccleaner, run both portions, the files cleaner and the registry cleaner.

Post back results.

What do I run it for, windows 2000?

Find the file directory that your steam is installed to.
Right click on the .exe file
Goto Properties
Go to the Compatibility tab
Check the box that says "Run in compatibility mode"

Run it for Windows XP Service Pack 3. I always run stuff that is having issues for that particular one since XP is a very reliable OS.

Yeah. try and clear all your steam files, and re install everything.

Uninstalled steam, deleted the steam folder. Started steam up, it said Updating 0%, then guess what? The error came back... I contacted steam support yesterday... nothing. Thank god I saved my Steam Apps, I would have died.

Any other suggestions :/? Losing hope here lol... I have McAfee Security, if that matters.. How do I check if steam is being blocked? Running out of options

Why don't you turn McAfee off and then start up steam, to see if that is the problem.

I know how to check if it's being blocked so I'll do that(I'm on my iPod) later. I ain't messing with the security stuff, I have absolutely no experience with that stuff, so I'm not turning it off lol.

I'm not deleting anythings my dad does all that antivirus crap, anyways I'm 99.9% it's not blocking steam..

Any other suggestions ?

I have seen this problem before many times during my work as a tech.

There are only six ways to fix this problem:
-Remove McAfee and/or Norton
-Disable McAfee and/or Norton
-Add Steam.exe to the "do not block" area of your antivirus
-Disable any and all firewalls [Start>Run>Firewall.cpl>OK]
-Open TCP port range 27014-27050 on your router
-Open UDP port 3478, 4379, 4380, 27000-27015, 27015-27030

1). Uninstall McSuckffe

2). Install AVG, avast! or any other GOOD antivirus.

3). Make sure all of your ports are open properly for Steam and your games to run properly online.

4). Download and install CCleaner from http://www.piriform.com/

5). Run CCleaner, every section of it (use the default settings if you don't know what any of it does).

6). Reinstall Steam.... COMPLETELY. Uhh, do this before #3, though.

7). Make sure Steam is allowed by your firewall.

8). Make sure Steam is not blocked by your antivirus.

9). Refresh your network (unplug your modem/router for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Give it a few minutes to boot before you try to do anything).

I didn't write this in a specific order. Do it in this order, though:

#3 (Again, sometimes refreshing your router/modem and reset some of the ports. Only if needed! This means check to see if the ports are still open after you refresh your network.)

If this doesn't fix it, try reinstalling your entire computer, but be sure to back everything up to disk that you want to keep like photos, videos, music, and anything from Hammer you might want to save, seeing as you have a map that's 35% done.

Turning off the Antivirus for 5mins isn't going to instantly get you viruses. We're trying to help, and this is a super easy fix... and will get you back gaming. Don't just stop gaming because your afraid of turning off a antivirus.
