That's because mechanical switches are just now becoming popular, mainly in the RTS scene, so if you don't follow that much you probably wouldn't have seen it. Pretty much all the sc2 progamers use some form of mechanical switch. There is a big difference in feel between playing with a non-mechanical and mechanical in games. I would never go back to a dome keyboard. Mechanical keyboards actuate at half press, take less force, are more responsive, and are crisp to type on and not squishy, and they last a hell of a lot longer.
Most normal gamers don't even know what a mechanical keyboard is yet.
that is cus they only rely on Logitech, microsoft & razer for their gaming "gears" & now that razer has come out with one, more ppl will know.
im pretty sure around 70% of gamers never heard of mechanical keyboards. nor know anything bout the steelseries keyboards
