Most Annoying CS:S Forum Threads

5. I'm leaving for one week. I'm going to post on the forums and tell people the exciting adventures i will have. Everybody will miss me.

lol, nice.

After think about this for a minute, I've reached a conclusion.

Any one person who is tired of seeing a particular subject reincarnate in the form of a new thread, here, or on any forum, should task themselves with writing\creating the definitive\end-all-be-all version of it, then campaign to have it stickied and all other threads like it deleted.

-devil's advocate-

One may argue that threads like the one I've suggested above are often created and stickied for the very reason of curtailing future threads. BUT, consider how many times as a young forum noob, or an experienced troller having a lazy day, that any of us may have posted about something that certainly, SOMEONE on the internet must have already answered or handled.

Truth is, there are likely very few questions left to be asked on the internet that haven't already been fielded. The problem is, so many different languages, writing styles, dialects, vernaculars, vocabularies and colloquialisms are used in asking essentially the same questions that enough "tagging" can never be done to help find the original threads that have "handled it". I'm sure any one of us can find ten ways to ask any one question that we normally see asked, and for that reason, searching out an answer to one before posting anew is very difficult. One of the most helpful things in this is that people commonly post links to the aforementioned end-all-be-all threads in response to all of the millions of new threads on the same subject, MAKING that original awesome thread far easier to find than it every was when first posted.

Things move in cycles. Every once in a while, there will be a wave of new people coming at any particular game title. All with the same new excitement and wonderment that we all had for the games that we have been playing for years. This happens to old games and new. We'll never be able to get around dealing with newbs asking answered questions. I think it's time we just better organize things so that it's easier for them to find what they are looking for.

i hope everyone knows that the posts wont ever stop. this division to be honest with you need to talk more. but i do think stupid posts such as the ones above need to stop

Gun game polls/suggestions/OMG GG IS KEWL LETS PLEIGH?!?!?!?! threads.

I actually don't mind these. There's going to be one good post and one thats informative every thread.

I do however, have a pet peeve about people posting about their inactivity or why they haven't been on or why they're going away when they really aren't anyone important. (Unless it's about something big). So my list would be:

Unimportant people posting their absence
Unimportant people explaining their prolonged absence
Unimportant people explaining and posting their return after a short absence / after posting threads such as the other two from above

You'll realise that most people don't care and won't miss you. If you do it in hope that leadership will understand that you've been away which is why you've been inactive and that maybe by posting this it'll still look like you care about eGO and out of this you might still get the promotion you've been secretly longing for all this time...

I can't speak for Leadership, but you are seriously mistaken.

This thread is fail, it should be deleted really.
What kind of community are we portraying here. All I see is members getting targeted or label "unimportant" to the community listed here. Maybe not targeted by there names but by linking their threads or naming thread titles that members have created. This is not right and definitely not what eGO is about.

I when they really aren't anyone important.

I think, with all due respect, that the attitude you have destroys everything that eGO stands for.

Forget about who is leader or who is eG or eGO, I do not care about being promoted to eGO Division Council Lord Godlike Member, and neither should you, because after the admin rights and "high school popularity" that you wanna put over your shoulders, everyone has THE RIGHT TO HAVE SOME ATTENTION.

In other words, who the hell you think you are to say who is important or who is not? Having "eGO" in your tag name does not give you permission to discriminate other fellow members who haven't been as much as you are or are not that active.

If could say which is my #1 most annoying thread is the one where someone replies "this is useless".

And I totally agree with Frank, the attitude you want all of us to take only proves that you have a lot to learn about social life and human interactions.

I love the fact that your signature literally says "Awaaaay. I've got exam prep and camps over the next couple of weeks (Well as long as this stays up) , so I'll be really quite inactive.".

Was this for leaderships benefit to make it look like you still care about eGO? Or are you important and entitled to sharing such information?

I agree with Frank and SigmaTaurus. This thread is not what we are about. Just because someone posts a thread you may think is unimportant doesn't mean it is.

Everyone here is just important as the next. We have forums to discuss whatever is on our members minds (within reason of course). If you don't like the topic of a thread or who posted it, then don't reply. Its that simple.

Making a thread like this is in bad taste and not what eGO is about.

Locked.
