I was wondering.. Is there any hope of any New competitive scrims in the DoD:s Division? I know we see one Rarely, and so do a few other divisions.

my question is do you think we could have some sort of sub division to Day of Defeat that competes? Like a new one? I know there used to be such things, but that was a long time ago to my understanding. Before I even was in eGO.

I'm asking this because I know the opinion isn't the same of everyone, and not everyone wants to compete.. Well. I didn't either for a while, but now I consider myself a pretty destructive axis support class player these days..

I'm sure that if we could get something together that there are a lot of other members that could do damage against other clans or groups.. perhaps spreading eGO's name further than just great servers, great admins, and a great gaming experience.

If something eventually could be put together that would be DOPE. I know for the time being there are a few servers that need to be concentrated on.. but I'd just like any other division members opinions

This really could be great for recruiting reasons, if people whom we are recruiting also have an agenda in playing against other players. It could increase eGO's fame within DoD:s.. which is already erm. Pretty famous. I had some other original benefits of the idea, but I've forgotten a few.

Regardless I'm no adviser. I'm not dictating what would be a good idea, I'm simply stating what would more than likely be a great idea. I expect nothing immediately.. but. in time, if this is possible in some form, DOPE.

Have you tried Realism?

Did you try out for the DoD:S Competitive Team?

Seems like these would solve all your concerns.

I never even knew a Competitive team existed. otherwise I would have tried out, and I wouldn't have even made this thread. And the events I'm never on during the hours they they operate.

Been active for a long time now, and a long time before my few month inactivity. Never knew there was a competitive team. Link please? (To whom I would contact to try out.)

for this league season you have missed your opportunity to try out. The team has been made and the roster has been locked (not in our power). There have been 5-10 posts made throughout the DoDS general forum and the scrim thread announcing tryouts and matches.

The comp team's captain is ronpaul.

I guess I didn't know what thread title to recognize.. but regardless i didn't know to look at all because I never heard a word about it. My fault either way. But thanks for the info.

As Blue mentioned, I'm sad to hear you missed all the posts and announcements for the team! The good news is that it may be possible to unlock rosters on or before the third week of the season (we are currently playing week 1's match tonight). Either way, keep an ear out on these forums for some news about the competitive team coming up soon, there will be an announcement made within the week.

As am I. Believe me if I had known in any sense, I'd be all over it. I just kept thinking of some people saying it was but hasn't been around so I didn't ask.. obviously something like it was reinstated not too long ago and I just did not know.. =[

Regardless of all that, I will be following any updates that occur within the scrim team. I'm excited and sad since there isn't any current openings, but I'll keep sharpening my skills until then and bide my time so if something does come up, I will be ready. =]

Things in edge gamers can happen suddenly, or a lot sooner than you expected.I remain hopeful. Thanks again Ronpaul and others.

Maybe we could have randomized teams from within our DoD:s division that change every 2 weeks or so? If we are 30 members that actively read the forums, we'd already have 5 teams of 6 or 3 teams of 10.

Of course this is just an idea to create some competitive games for us (e)'s and those who weren't able to join the league team. Does this sound possible at all?

I dropped a message in the drop box with the idea for something similar for this (bit more structured tournament style) awhile back.

if there's enough interested in a division scrim games, i might nag the leadership a bit more
edits: sorry for the double post. Here's a copy of what I drop boxed (leadership said they where "discussing something like this"

I attempted to go into more detail here:
DoD:s scrim tournament

Team Layout:
Teams will consist of 6 people: 1 Team Leader(TL) and 5 “squad members” . Upon the initial application the Team Leader will name an Alternative Team Leader(ATL). If at anypoint one of the five members drops out the tournament, the team MUST find a new member(whom is not already participating in the tournament) to fill the members lot prior to their next engagement. (Tournament Leadership will need to be made aware if this happens)

Tournament Layout:
The tournament will consist of 3 sections:
Qualification rounds(QR)
Semi-Finals(SF)
Finals
Teams formatted as a typical Double Elimination tournament[has a consolidation bracket)
home-tournament-64-thumb.jpg

Teams will be lined up randomly during the Qualification Rounds. Winning teams will continue onto the semi-finals and so forth. The looser will be transferred onto the consolidation bracket when a team is defeated in the consolidation bracket they will be eliminated.

Byes: If there is an odd number of teams in a section a team at random will get a bye. A bye is where a team sits out and automatically wins their battle because of lack of competition.

Points System
Points will be necessary in order to figure the outcome of an engagement. (it's possible to do single life and avoid the maintenance of the points system) In my head the points system will be based on weapons and deaths (and Friendly Fire)..I wish there was a reasonable way to evaluate tactics and communication into the points system

The Idea is each class will earn a certain number of points per kill

Support(+1)
Assault(+2)
Riflemen(+3)

Machine Gun(+3)
Sniper(+4)
Rocket(+5)

Points can be changed based on opinions.. Deaths per person will be -1 points.

The point system is rather primitive and if you'd like something more advanced please let me know and I can re-design it.
