To make trading a little easier/worry free

cl_showbackpackrarities 1

I don't know why this is off by default, and I honestly can't find an option for it in the TF2 settings menu, however, I think this is a great addition for everyone to use. It basically adds a colored background to every item that you have to show it's "rarity". The color itself corresponds with the color of the name of the item. This helps finding non-vintage things faster, if you find someone who's trading an unusual, they can't switch it out without you noticing if you let the excitement get to you.

Of course, you should still definitely make sure you're taking precautions not to get scammed, but this should add you one step along the way to speed things up without worrying about losing quick info about items.

Plus, I think it makes the backpack look fantastic.

It's actually a configuration setting, so once you type it in the game, it should save it to your config.cfg file. It you really want to be sure it is always on, I suppose you could add it to the autoexec file.

People are still falling for renamed items. Renaming a stock item gives yellow lettering. So be cautious when you trade, I seen way too many people getting scammed - almost to the point where I feel the need to say something.
